Despite the web site saying over 55's it's accepted me this morning, I'm 51.
Booked in for Friday and early June at Sport City.
It will be in the press soon. Bookings were moving fast and I had to try again by the time I picked my second date.
They've called up all the over 50s here already....
I only turned 50 a couple of weeks back and being jabbed on Friday.
Same here - I read yesterday that over 50s would be invited in the next couple of weeks. An hour later I got a text from my GP.
Nothing from my GP yet.
Nothing for me yet.
I thought bugger it and went for it when I heard the main web site was open. It's a 20 mile round trip, rather than 1 but I'll get done quicker. I could also have a nice ride there down the Peak and Ashton canals (Sport City).
Any guesses when the list might open for the 45-50's? Im jabbed, but need to sort out my wife.
They seem to use text message, so if your GP doesn't have a mobile number, maybe the auto-enroll thing doesn't work.
I’m believe they’re talking about April Danstw13.

In a couple of weeks I'd guess, they're making good progress...
IIRC 50-55 isn't that big a demographic.
Local doctors sent me a txt message yesterday asking to phone them to make an appointment for my jab , I'm there today at 14.32 precisely!
Im 52
Nowt for me yet - 52 and with high blood pressure - think I'll call my GP surgery every half hour and pester them! 🙂
Don't assume your GP is the best option. Some GPs are doing really well, my colleague in his mid 50s was done four weeks ago by his GP over in Hyde, but here in Marple my local GP practice is still doing people in their late 60s so it's likely I'll go via the NHS centralised service at Etihad or Alderley Park when I become eligible
https://www.nhs.uk/book-a-coronavirus-vaccination/do-you-have-an-nhs-number
you can book via that when your age group is eligible nationally, though your GP practice can call you up earlier if they are doing well and have the capacity
Its certainly moving forward quickly! I did wonder how 2nd jabs will slow things down, but I believe we are due to accelerate things from next week. My availability of vaccination shifts certainly is.
Cheers,
No letter or text yet but just been onto the booking site https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ put my NHS number and DoB (im 53) in and made the booking for next week and June. 🙂
Thought all vaccinations were being led by GPs and you where called by them? Can I jump the queue?
52 here. Had the text message about an hour ago. Booked in for Friday morning for my upgrades. Bring it on!
Muffin man - there are 2 separate systems. GP led centres are booked by GP admin staff calling patients. The big centres and Pharmacies are booked via the national booking service.
Wont let me book with the NHS number online. It must be area driven, based in South Yorkshire
The big centres and Pharmacies are booked via the national booking service.
Some areas also have a local online booking service.

They're different queues, it's not queue jumping

My Area (Cardiff and Vale) are quietly hoping to kick off Phase 2 with the 40-50 age group on the 29th of March to coincide with their new large Vaccination Centre opening. I think they'd love to be the first Trust in the UK to do so.
It's all seems to balance on take-up, if a lot of people in the 50-55 group come forward it wad obviously slow it down a bit, worse though is if too few people come forward they'll be reluctant to move onto Phase 2.
As a massive over-thinker, I'm hoping to get my first jab in the first few days, I'm hoping my Wife working at one of the centres will help my cause, meaning if I get my second in 12 weeks I'll get it on the 21st of June, I'm due to leave for Passportes on the 24th... so many fingers crossed.
Not got my NHS number to hand - I'll have a go at booking when I get home. 👍
Are you over 50? Can you not book online now?
I have a similar issue - we are booked for a sailing holiday on 18 Jul. 12 weeks before then is Apr25.
You don't need NHS number - Name DOB & Postcode will do, and it works on a phone.
Thanks folks, booked both mine now - in the middle of booking a text came through telling me I could book with the local GP led lot but the jab centre in the local stadium is a bit of a closer/nicer ride.
I think they’d love to be the first Trust in the UK to do so.
Ah, maybe that's why Nottinghamshire accidentally opened up their list to over 40s yesterday!
Not got my NHS number to hand

Nope a mere 41, we are of course assuming 'Vaccine Passports' will be a thing, either way I see it as a way of maximising my chances!
I had just had a text from my GP surgery and am now booked for a jab tomorrow. I am 47, so definitely working their way down the age groups in some areas.
53 cant get past this on the NHS link
You are not currently eligible to book through this service
Vaccine passports cannot happen until everyone is offered the vaccine surely. The older people who have hardly missed out get to go abroad first? **** that
Over 40s were opened up yesterday in Notts, only for the system to crash and be reset to over 50s. The progress they're making is astonishing. We managed to book for this evening and they're honouring the over 40s who booked when they were able to.
The capacity of the system far outstrips vaccine supply at the moment. If we get more supplies, we can increase a heck of a lot. For weeks we have been cancelling shifts due to lack of bookings (probably driven by lack of vaccine)
Read this thread and just booked myself through the NHS website (I'm 52).
Over 30s are getting called in here!
Kinda hoping they run out before they get to me. Nothing against the vaccine or anything, it’s great for the vulnerable but I’m not in that group

It's another one of those political things they've toyed with to gauge Public Response.
I don't know if it will ever happen in the UK, we've got too many gobby Anti-Vax ****ers who'll use it as a stick to beat them with. Other countries, Malta perhaps? Has sort of put one in place for UK tourists.
I don't know if it's a good idea or not, like the mask 'exemptions' unless you're willing to vigorously enforce it, there will be a lot of piss-takers who don't mind spreading a deadly virus just to prove "only God can judge me" or other such shite. I know a lot of people have held into their appointment cards...
It would seem very unfair on Young People who've had to give up a year of freedom to stop the spread of a virus that likely won't touch them, but on the other hand, from what I've seen on Social media, there seems to be a majority of Teenagers and people in their early 20s, especially University Students who see partying as a basic human right and have largely ignored the rules anyway.
Hmm, it seems you can book even if you don't match the stated criteria but should you?
You can only use this service if any of the following apply:
you are aged 55 or over
you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
you are an eligible frontline health or social care worker
you have a condition that puts you at higher risk (clinically vulnerable)
you have a learning disability
you are a main carer for someone at high risk from coronavirus
If you are not eligible yet
Wait to be contacted. The NHS will let you know when it's your turn to have the vaccine. It's important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then.
At the start my surgery sent me texts every 5 minutes about what to do If I come to the surgery, being covid safe, protecting staff, various different precautions... the ins and outs and whys and wherefores, felt like a got a text daily.
Sadly no text inviting me for a vaccine, i'm 57, went on the gov site in the end booked 2 weeks ago for monday, checked on my surgerys website, couldnt find much info other than their CQC rating which said 'Requires Improvement' pretty accurate I'd say.
The capacity of the system far outstrips vaccine supply at the moment. If we get more supplies, we can increase a heck of a lot. For weeks we have been cancelling shifts due to lack of bookings (probably driven by lack of vaccine)
As I understand it from reading my wife NHS trust daily briefing memo, supplies fell sharply at the start of March, I think a production facility was shut down to improve output, it have come back online in the last few days and they're expecting a huge increase in stock levels.
Locally they're still ramping up capacity with a new huge vaccine centre opening next week and potentially more coming.
In other good news, Covid hospital admissions in Cardiff and Vale are at their lowest at ANY TIME during this pandemic and there are fewer people in Hospital with Covid now than there were before the second Kent variant wave (Sept).
Sadly, because of this dominate Kent variant it won't be like last Spring when we saw low numbers all summer, it's the vaccine that needs to do the heavily lifting UNLESS it proves to be seasonal (which it might be) in which case, the Healthcare crisis, locally at least, is nearly over and with the right moves and a bit of luck, it might be over for good. This is my layman's understanding of the memos anyway.
My availability of vaccination shifts certainly is.
Finally got my GRS access so I'm booking in shifts for April.... there seems to be a big ramping up of availability, but also a large number of volunteers!
The national booking may still be geographically linked to progress locally. I didn't see any local options, only Etihad, but that's 10 miles away (20 mins in the car or an hour on the MTB).
NHS number and DOB, and I was OK to book.
You've got to be quick on the booking as it doesn't hold your first date, so if slow booking second, you have to start again. Mine moved by two days in less than a minute.
My second date isn't ideal, but MrsF kicked off as it's the day before her 50th and said 'great you'll be grumpy' - so I've just phoned and they advised don't move your second date until you've had the first jab as even they have to cancel your first - so you'll lose that date.
What gap are they putting between jabs?
11-12 weeks according to what I just booked....sunday eve at Epsom racecourse and then another at Sandown (vacc centre moving apparently) in early June
I could have had it even sooner (tomorrow), but if I'm going to be ill I'd rather have a work week to recover than **** up a weekend 😉
Exactly 11 weeks here. Had first today, second booked in for the first of June
Epsom racecourse
Was there this morning getting mine....very efficient but not busy, no queuing at all. Hopefully the current news stories ain't putting people off
My OH is 42 and got her invite today, we have no idea why...I’m older just about, she has no medical conditions, it’s a bit odd..
I've just booked the wife's jabs. She's 50 with no underlying health conditions and when I tried last week she wasn't eligible. Different centres for first and second jabs and not local, which is annoying, but at least she's now booked in.
Sharkbait - 👍👍
If you've not been invited yet keep an eye out on your GP's facebook page or similar. Ours had more vaccines than appointments on Saturday so opened it up to anyone who could get there (not just the over 50s - I'm not there yet). I found out and then 20 mins later I'd had the first jab and they booked me on for 12 weeks later.
I was pleased to get a text from my Doctor's today - called up straight away and got my first on Sunday, the 2nd on the 13th of June. Just around the corner from home, happy days. I'm 51.
Anyone know when I'll start to generate my own WiFi?
Anyone know when I’ll start to generate my own WiFi?
Version 1 only supports 5G reception, they're hoping to incorporate hotspotting into a later version but it might have wait until CoVax2 is released as a booster in Oct.
Come September Witty is going to ramble on and on for hours using nothing but meaningless buzz words for the fanbois to cream their knickers at, then bosh "One more thing" Wi-fi hotspots, and we'll all have to go out and get brand new jabs. Typical.
LOL - just had my text through - Mystic Meg must be on the payroll.
Or the Russians are watching these threads and relaying info to Boris! 🙂
Thanks for the tip off
First jab booked for next Wednesday, second 10th June. I’m 53.
Just got mine in for next Tues and June 8th. Im 52 in Aug.
Anyone know when I’ll start to generate my own WiFi?
Biggest problem is compatibility between the different vaccines, eg a Pfizer user can't talk to an Astra Zenica user......

Oh well, just one more group identity to judge people by. Will be lost in the plethora of other group identities that we're all defined by these days.
I'm 48 and went on to try to book last week as someone said they were looking to get people booked up well in advance due to fears there will be less keen-ness and take up as we go down the lower age and risk groups but no joy. Will try again in a few weeks time.
STW will alert you as always!!
What a confusing thread.... Do you lot live in Germany or something?
I'm 48 and got called for vaccination about three weeks ago. Took me so much by surprise that I demurred and said I'd phone them back once I'd gained the power of thought.
Which I did last week, and duly got the injection last Friday...
Most of my forty something mates have also had it. How confusing.
Do you lot live in Germany or something?
If so we'd all be refusing to take the 'British' vaccine...
Text yesterday from my GP, booked for Sat. I'm 50, West Yorkshire. My brother is booked for Sunday and he's only 48.
Yorkshire have been amazing at getting their population vaccinated quickly.
I had my jab last Thursday evening the second one is in 11 weeks.
Well I managed to get an embarrassment of appointments...
With the NHS site still showing '55 and over' I booked SWMBO on and got both appointments locally, the first within a couple of days.
I then tried for me (under 55) and despite asking for the DOB, the booking system generated both appointments, the first within a couple of days.
I then received an SMS from the local surgery and was jabbed next day. I enquired about no shows and surplus vaccine and nominated SWMBO if there were any. Within the hour, she was called in and jabbed.
I now can't cancel my original appointments as the NHS Web donkeys have ****ed up and I'm getting a page not found/404 error... 🙄
Think it is really a bit of a postcode lottery. My other half hasn’t had a call yet (53) and me neither (47) but no great surprise. But hearing and know of others under 50 with no underlying conditions does sound like it’s hit and miss. Just going to sit it out and wait for the call or under 50’s booking to open...
48 here (Camberley, Surrey) I got the text from GP today. Booked the Vaccine for tomorrow!
NHS booking site now clear - over 50s can book - I'd get in quick...
We booked yesterday for Sunday, but there were places available to today at Elland Road
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
Any other over 50s having trouble booking on the web site? Get a message saying it can't find my details. The details work fine on the 'find your NHS number' page but not on the vaccination booking page. Have checked my details with my GP practice and they are correct. Croydon area...
I still haven't managed to get booked on the NHS site so have phoned the local centre and am booked on for tomorrow morning 👍
FWIW, I phoned my surgery to check they have my mobile number. Being 50 next month, I thought it would be prudent...
They had my mobile number, but not 'verified for text messages'. Receptionist hit some button and lo! a text appeared with a booking link.
She did say I'd get text when my age group were called - perhaps it is a sign that Stroud-area has plenty of vaccine and/or has got through bulk of over 50's and/or was an error.
