Put pies in oven . Instead of 30 minutes to cook they took an hour.
The display says 180c , thermometer in the oven says 110c.
Is there an obvious bit that's gone wrong?

Probably one of the elements but not the one next to the built in thermometer

Our oven only has one element, so when it went it was stone cold. Is it a fan oven, is the fan working? If not I'd suspect the thermostat.

Elements are dead easy to replace and cheap - but check fans are working and the thermostat.

PS Our oven blew the fuses when the element went mid cooking, so the oven was still 'hot' at the time but the temp dropped once I flicked the fuse board - the element had blown, the rest of the oven worked.

OP - try the oven again - does it get warm. Thank goodness for the internet - dead oven was a £15 part. 30 mins to remove oven, undo cover, replace element, then put back. That Simple.

don't do what I did, which was put the blown element back in, re-assemble the whole thing and then wonder why it didn't work...

Easy fix if element, as said, I'm waiting for a controller to arrive £180 for a few circuits but nothing works without it.

The element heats up. The fan works but not all the time. When I opened the door to look at the thermometer it wasn’t going round. It did start going again a few seconds later but slowly.
I cleaned the probe and the thermometer said 160 while it was saying 190 on the screen.
The display seems to be getting hot as well. Can’t remember if it always did ,what with it being right next to an oven.

Unfortunately ,a knackered oven is one of the trials of life in the run up to Christmas. One of the others is your fridge freezer packing in , on Christmas eve. AAGGHH.

We’ve had an Oven thermometer in ours for a couple of years now. The Oven works but the dial is woefully inaccurate.

Out by 40 Celsius at least!

I recently had to replace a set of oven door springs as the door was not closing snugly & left a 5mm gap at the top. The springs are sprung loaded & distort over time. They cost £50 each, & were easy to fit & solved the problem. This may not be your problem - but worth checking.

Definitely check the door is closing properly. I had to repair our Oven door hinges a few years ago - slack springs 🙁

Fan stopping and starting suggests its on it's way out. Ours went like that. Fairly simple to swap out. Bought a replacement off Amazon for about £25.

Every time we use the fan oven, we have to poke a knife through the slits to give the fan a nudge to start up. I'll get round to replacing it one day 😂
