I know Outwell are well-regarded, we've got some friends who have them and rate them: "only tents still standing after the storm were outwells" - that sort of chat. Read some reviews about this one having extremely tight front poles that make you think something's going to snap.

The Outdoor Revolution jobby is tempting - good price, especially given the bundle with footprint and carpet. waterproof rating not that high, some reviews saying they leak.

Robens - well made, good materials, nice touches. Expensive. We've had our current tent for 10 years and used it plenty, so the extra cost would disappear after couple of years if it lasts, which it should. But £200 extra now would be handy, and would really it last any longer than the OR? And in 7 years' time, are we going to be the only mugs on the campsite with a poled tent?

Any thoughts, experience, facts, hints, tips, abuse gratefully received.

Ta!

I have a Robens, and have had a couple of them at the outdoor centre. They are well made, they are very durable. Are they a noticeable step 'better' than other tents? Not so convinced. They did seem to last longer though.
Can be had for cheaper with a swift googleage...

Cheers Matt, lasting longer would be a noticeable step better for me!

Swift googleage would get a better price, yes, but I did some less swift googleage and saw that that one's the 4XP, not the 5XP. :-p

Oops....

We have Helsport tipi's at work - it was cheaper when we bought them to fly to Sweden, pick up a new tipi and fly home than buy them in the UK... Worth looking at buying from EU?

If there's 5 of you, I'd be buying a tent for 7 just to get a bigger 'day' area.

Having seen a couple put up a huge air-pole tent last summer with ease, and she had her arm in a sling - I'd be seriously tempted by an air-pole one.

There's 4 of us. Littlest are 2 and 4. 5-man should be comfy! We're in a 3 man at the moment. It's snug! 😀

Yeah, I'm tempted by the air beams. don't know what's holding me back. Size and weight are the rational reasons. I'm sure there's some irrational stuff in the mix as well!
