So, sometimes I go on another forum. Is it wrong to moan about people arguing on subjects that they are not qualified to argue on, or is every opinion valid?
Obviously this doesn't apply here, where everyone is right.
(for context its an argument about university trained paramedics Vs the old way of training. Most of the arguees are not paramedics and have never sat a paramedic course)
Opinions are formed by experiences, which differ. That's my opinion BTW.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Even journalists......
IMO a thread only becomes truly interesting when it involves people arguing over stuff they know nothing about.
I generally have an opinion on most issues, including things I know bugger all about, such as art, politics, economics, history, and philosophy. I find arguing about such topics both challenging and rewarding. Conversely, I generally prefer to avoid talking about carpentry - the only subject which I'm vaguely qualified to have an opinion on. HTH.
well TBH.....wouldnt life be boring if everyone spoke nice and has nice things to say all the time....ruddy heck... sometimes we need stong opposition.. 😉
Uninformed opinion has its place - in the case of the op - if non-paramedics have an opinion, whether its other medics or the wider public, thats useful for paramedics to hear isn't it? If its mis-informed its useful to know that misinformation exists.
One of the problems of "experts" is that they only talk to other "experts" in their peer group about stuff they think they already know: they stop being imaginative and progressive. It's called "Group Think" and a good manager knows that when this happens, it's time to break-up a group and allow other experiences to influence group thinking.
