Hi IT fellas!
What better place than STW can there be to ask an IT question?
OK I have a wireless access point (the Mac Airport thing) plugged into my ADSL modem which gives me great wifi all over the house for my laptop
All over the house except the study/spare room that is which is pretty much the only blackspot and until now hasnt had a computer in it
What would be the easiest way of sorting this?
Im looking at a desktop for general surf-age and also probably getting back into online games which is something Ive enjoyed in the past
Im thinking of one of those Homeplug things shown here
They look pretty easy - am I missing anything?
Also we're getting a Wii of Santa - Im guessing that this will run the 'g' rather than 'n' wireless protocol which I have previously found a bit iffy - Im assuming I can then buy another Homeplug for the Wii to access my network too - and if so does it need to be at 200MBPS or will a cheaper one still let me compete online?
Failing that can I just buy a wifi 'n' USB plug in for the Wii?
cheers!
Get yourself an Apple Airport Express, as this enable you to extend your wireless network and just requires a powers socket, can turn a non wireless pc/laptop (if you can get one these days!), act as a audio streamer to speakers, tunr any usb printer into a wireless printer - theres so much you can do with it.
Oh and there unbelievably easy to set-up
Wii won't plug into an Ethernet connection eg wired without an adaptor.
As for the wifi issue, I round that a larger wifi aeriel helped. Maplin and the like do them.
