Any outlook experts on here?

Just started using outlook 2003 which although old is fully updated on my new work laptop.

The problem is that to send and receive ALL emails, even when I type them out and press send they go straight into my outbox.
I then need to press the "send and receive" button.

I asked our IT guy what to do and he emailed me back saying the following

"Open Outlook

Tools

Send/Receive

Send/Receive Settings

Untick disabled scheduled Send/Receive"

The problem I have is that the box is un ticked and it's still not working automatically and he's gone home for the afternoon.

Anyone know what I need to do with the system that I have currently and please can you keep it idiot proof?

Cheers JC

Hi is outlook "offline" ? look in bottom right corner. If so, right click and untick work offline.

This advice assumes you are using exchange server for email not pop3/imap.

Are you using word as your email editor?

If so disable it, Word email editor looks like Outlook but it isn't and any composed messages will go straight to the outbox
