We are looking at doing an extension just now and going through the plans. One part of it is going to be a sunroom with doors leading out on the patio area.

Whilst the doors are going to be the secondary / back door to the house, they'll be the ones we use the most ( probably about 95% of the time ).

We're stuck between 2 ideas...

having a set of 2 normal doors which open out in a normal fashion with a couple of fixed windows either side of them

or having a set bi-folding doors, with 4 panes, which would mean we could in the summer open out the whole side of the room onto the patio.

Does anyone have the bi-folding doors ? Do they work well enough as a day to day entrance? or would it be better with sticking to a normal pair of doors.

We have bi-fold. 3 panes, I think. Work ok as a day-to-day entrance as we ahve to let the dog in & out that way all the time. The one door just opens like a normal door.
Haven't had the benifit of summer with them yet as we have only had them a few months, but its great to have the big opening.
I think its something to do with building regs - you cant have the normal 2 door opening as wide.
We do have the old normal double doors to sell if you're interested!

We had bi-folding doors from Folding Sliding Doors installed in 2004.

They cost about £5k. They were late. It took 5 attempts to install them. There were quality problems (cracked frame, broken lock, seals falling out, they sent 2 left hand ends and no right and so on).

Once they sorted it out (which to their credit they did) they were great, but it took a lot of messing about.
