I have got myself a little SR250 to try and create either a street tracker, i.e. one of these
or café racer
like this
the problem I have is that the wheels are spot on, rims, hubs etc, but the spokes are rusted to buggery 🙁
it will cost a fortune to buy stainless spokes and have the wheels re-built.
So the question is :-
Can you powder coat the assembled wheel? and get a good finish on all components including the old spokes?
Clean them with Meguiars nxt metal polish, Scotchbrite pad and a whole bunch of elbow grease.
Depending on how bad they are, they may turn out ok. If they don't they'll at least be ready for painting
I prefer the first one.
Have fun busting your nails 😀
I was worried that elbow grease was called for, they are so fiddly, that's the problem.
So do I, I think with it being a little 250 single , with not enough power to pull the skin off a rice pudding, then a street tracker is probably the better option.
