I think FunkyDunc of this parish lives up that way somewhere.

As an ex Shrewsbury-ite the best i can suggest is Nesscliffe, halfway between the two, which is fun but  not really big or steep enough to facilitate too much plumneting.

I’m pretty local. Candy woods is your nearest but I have no idea if anything is running at the moment. Nesscliffe is on my doorstep, lots of the stuff is overgrown but still some fun stuff and a good gap jumps area along with quite a few interesting features.

Eastridge is pretty close if you have time and there is a monumental amount of riding there, especially very good technie stuff, big climbs. You are also very close to Revs 🙂

If you only have a couple of hours then the Candy woods (Racecourse) or Llechrydau woods if you want some technical trails however, they can be difficult to find if you dont know where to go and also depending on skill level (check out stopadoodledoo

and Pinned TV

on youtube for a taster), please be mindful of walkers and access.  If you want a longer ride you can follow the Ceiriog trail which you can join at Llechrydau, the road goes through the middle of a farm, you can see the bridleway signs on the left by the gate blocking the road, or carry on for another mile or so and there are two more bridleways on the left, one loops over to Llanarmon DC the other on the right goes down a very fast track, the trails are marked on the OS maps etc and also on a few of the mtb sites, you can mix and match some of the bridleways to create various loops of the upper and lower trails.  These are quite remote so make sure you are prepared, in the dry they are pretty fast, in the wet they are a proper slog. Candy woods are about 1.5 miles out of Oswestry and Llechrydau about 3.5. Then back to the Bell for a few after ride pints.

Loads of stuff around Llangollen too.

One giant leap - DH venue. Have a look in the woods around there too for loads of good enduro tracks

I preferred the enduro tracks in the woods when I went explot there last year
