I enjoy watching football every now and then, but am generally put off by the bling, big money, gold-plated ferrari culture that seems so prevalent in the game, so this story was a delight to read, excellent to see a club that is part of the community succeeding.
I live in Östersund . one of my projects at work was getting the stadium ready for European football.
The Guardian also wrote a great piece too
I spent a month there (OMG - was that really 20 years ago!?!) flying with the SAF. Lovely place, lovely people! I shall take that month to the grave with me!!!!
Friday nights at the Best Western in Ostersund!
Just been reading about them on the beeb. Warms the heart of a cynical football fan and I agree with the OP's sentiments, especially since most of us wont earn in 10 years what the likes of Wayne Rooney earn in a week. Thankfully community focused clubs (like FCUM etc) are on the rise in this country.

Am I missing something?
I live with a Swedish guy who was telling me about them recently. Pretty awesome achievement. And Billy Reid as assistant. Great to see.
I worked on a few wind farms in the north of Sweden so occasionally flew to Östersund (I normally flew to Skellefteå). That part is Sweden, and the people who live there, have a special place in my heart. Thanks for sharing.
And we are through to the last 32 of the Europa league!
