I'm off to Oslo next week with work Monday to Friday. Anyone got any suggestions of stuff to do in the evenings?
Some of the museums look interesting but think they close at 6pm so not sure whether I'll be out the office in time to visit.
I'm staying near the opera house so will have a walk round there and the harbour and have an expensive beer.
Walk up the side of the opera house. Awesome view. I would have said Viking boat museum but as you say, times may not suit.
Beautiful city though whatever you do.
Taking a boat out to visit the islands is nice too.
Is work paying for food and beer?
I live in Norway so can give some tips on where to go
Make sure work are paying !!
Stupidly expensive and that was 10 years ago when GBP was worth something
Yes, work are paying for food and a few beers.
Miniature bottle museum, worth it for the erotica room!

stay away from Aker Brygge or the surrounding area - too expensive and full of annoying rich people
Take a tram out to the Vigeland Sculture park if it isn't dark already. Very impressive
Vigelandsparken is pretty cool.

I really liked this part of town. I'm not sure any bit of Oslo is that rough though.
One of my best mates lives there, it's a really nice city to amble about it for a few days, though horrendously expensive and the beer was (at least the times I've been there) universally poor. Thankfully my mate brews his own, which saves a hell of a lot of money.
Go and see Nansen's Fram and soak up the atmosphere and history. The Kon Tiki is next door as well.
I used to live in Oslo and I use to love taking the tram (t-bane) up to the top of the Tryvann (for skiing/walking/or lazy mountain biking). Get off at Holmenkollen to see the big ski jump and enjoy great views over Oslo (night or day), and/or continue to the top at Frognerseteret and enjoy a walk in the woods with great views again.
T-bane from the central station to Frognerseteren [T-bane] (Oslo).
Also, the centre is nice just to wander round. Lots of good bars etc.
What about a visit to the ski jump, that's pretty awesome and then continue to the end of the line to the Winterpark for a mooch round/drink with great views over the city.
Oh....just seen the post above! Great minds eh?
Take your bike. It's what I do 🙂
it's been a long time since i last went, but you can't beat a walk round the city ogling the local talent.
Don't try to buy beer after 7pm from a supermarket to take back to your hotel room. Turns out they don't like that sort of thing.
Eat reindeer steak. mmmm..
I never made it to the boat museum would have loved to visit that.
beautiful country.
Thanks everyone. Sounds like a mooch round town and a trip on the T-Bane then.
Slight hijack, has anyone used air bnb in Oslo?
I spent 6 weeks in the early 90s (doing geological mapping of the islands) and never made it over to the viking ship museum or the Kon Tiki. I'd love to go back for a weekend.
