…to spend the next 15 years at his sentencing hearing.
FFS get on with it.
He shot somebody.
Send him down.
Maybe the judge is treading carefully and making him wait is just part of the punishment.
Bet he's hopping mad with the wait
It's just a shot in the dark but I reckon he'll not be walking away from this one

Booo!
I think the joke stands on its own merits - unlike Mr Pistorius
The whole thing is a sick joke. South African justice may be sound but it's not fair in process.
He should be given a cuddle FGS?! What's wrong with you right-wing psycopaths?!
Is every trial in South Africa like this? I don't know anything about their justice system, apart from what I've seen on TV..Its ridiculous!
…to spend the next 15 years at his sentencing hearing.
😆
The way things are going Reeva Steenkamps parents are going to end up paying for a new bathroom door 🙄
New bathroom door? I don't think so, she was dead against it...
kudos clobber
I know i shouldn't laugh at that, but...
Nice 1 Clobber. I laughed, then felt immediately horrible.
Im in SA at the moment. There is an entire channel devoted to the trial. An actual entire tv channel. I am expecting a cliffhamger of a commercial break in the moment before the final sentence is announced.
If this had been a guy in a township who had done this under the same circumstances, would the procedure be the same?
Call someone Blade runner and what do you expect
If this had been a guy in a township who had done this under the same circumstances, would the procedure be the same?
Doubtful, it would have probably involved tyres and petrol rather than 9mm pistols
Reevas cousin summed it up best today. Can you shoot someone and get away with it? What message does it send out?
The Prison read out sounded like a college prospectus, totally at odds with 'he'll be beaten with his prosthetics' by the defences probation officer.
Jesus is it still dragging on .last murder trial I did the jury foreman said quilty it hardly seemed like the echo had died down before the judge said 32 years .
I known pistorios only got found on the lesser charge but still.
By the way clobber that joke was in really bad taste and insensitive I will have to be really careful who I repeat it to tomorrow.
Too much law not enough justice.
compare this to the trials of the taxi drivers etc of the Swedish bride that was killed, and whose husband is now being tried - that was Safrican experiment with "fast justice" and it wasn't such a good outcome.
...place your bets then.
Looking forward to the merchandise and action figure being in the shops for Christmas.
5yrs
The judge has been hugely impressive
7 years
7 probably isn't a bad call. The judge is showing little sympathy for the defence claims
Community service. Personally I'd put him in a room and fire at him through the door. So he can experience what that poor girl went through. Sad excuse for a human being.
8 years
Looking at that pile of paper she has this is going to take a while
Five

Does seem a bit odd that the defence have said that a suitable punishment for killing another human is being forced to work with disabled children.

Give me it first
I would think Pistorious will think he's got away lightly
2yrs in jail is abit of a joke. I hope he finds redemption inside.
[pedant mode]
Every bleedin' news site reporting he's been 'jailed for 5 years'.
No, he's been sentenced to 5 years, will probably be in jail for 2.
[/pedant mode]
I would think [s]Pistorious[/s] a lot of people will think he's got away lightly
Personally I think he's a slimey little *** and I hope he has a particularly rough time in jail.
It almost feels like he got away with murder....
I'd have thought a 10 year sentence would have been a bit more appropriate, particularly in light of the outrageous behaviour of his legal team - suggesting he should be punished by being forced work with disabled kids..
Indeed sharkbait.
Eligible for parole in 8 months. So 8 months in jail.
Not good enough.

I won't get into sentence structure but you probably already know about these things.
I still feel like a winner, even if Greatape sneaked in ahead of me. You may now take the prisoner away! 🙂
Wht - eight months? SA jails must be reallly full.
10 months, has to serve 1/6th
Madness. He'd get more for deliberately running over a cyclist.
Was he blubbing and spewing again? Or is that facade over now?
What a strange term 5 years.
I'm keen to know what the fall out in SA is after this... 😕
Well at least he didn't walk.
He could in theory still run in Rio.
It's like O.J. Simpson all over again.
Maybe after his farcical sentence he'll meet with some 'public justice' when he gets out.
I bet Shrien Dewani is kicking himself. Why go to all the trouble he did with the taxi drivers when he could have just blasted her through the shit-house door?
I'm going to start a bullet proof bog door company in case this has set a dangerous precident.
This has hit the ****tersphere:
Roxanne Adams, member of defence team, says Pistorious could serve as little as one sixth (10 months) of his sentence and then house arrest.
when he could have just blasted her through the shit-house door
Well, it was his honeymoon after all!
@versus, you just made me cry with laughter! Thank you. 🙂
One of the taxi drivers died last week so that's one less to give evidence in the
Dewani case.
You would get more time in jail for shooting a big cat it seems.
the sentence is a joke, I feel for the family of Reeva Steenkamp
5 years for taking another human being's life?!
[quote=rumple ]5 years for taking another human being's life?!
It is a bit excessive isn't it?
Always interesting seeing other countries judicial systems in place.
Bleating about it on here is not going to change anything sadly.
If he genuinely thought it was an intruder & panicked, then I think it is a fair result. But frankly....I still don't believe his defence.
Is it just me that thinks his sister is fit as f*ck..........
I'll bet he does his 10 months in solitary
The state are appealing the verdict
