In Orford/Aldeburgh soon ( like next week) . Just wondering can you get to the Cobra Mist via the spit from Aldeburgh.

No Nat Trust boat ferry crossings in OCt 🙁

Looks like interesting stuff on the map.

Looks like quite a walk from the sat view.

Yes, apparently you can, however the last time a (cough) friend did it he was warned about ground nesting birds by a warden.

Ive got close to it from the north at Aldeburgh, but yes, its a fair schlep from that direction. And I'd spoken to the RSPB Warden the evening before, who said OK. In fact I was passed on the track by 15 or 20 4x4s, anglers off to a match further down the Ness, so general disturbance of the birds on the reserve by one walker hardly registered. Nesting birds arent likely to be a problem in October.
A lot of the walking is across this sort of thing, which is loose shingle https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3223111

Thanks for the info. Sadly did'nt get a chance to do the spit :-(. All my walking party did'nt fancy 12 miles on pebbly shingle.

But did a boat trip that took the pagodas in 🙂

The castle at Orford is great and the church is worth a look.

Thanks again.

We had a guided tour of all the old Atomic Research stuff there a few years back, was really interesting!

Such a shame Photography is banned 😉

Was there in December 2022.

We saw seals!

Covehithe is a nice beach with a spooky old church. Not as busy as Southwold.
