Odd one this.
my wife booked a swim holiday in Malta via a company that provides everything except the flights. She was depserate to go as a friend had booked but she was on the waiting list. A space came up and she had a day to pay the deposit to confirm.
Needed to book the flights - out via air Malta back via Easyjet were best flight times, grand total of £150 direct with the airlines.
Did search with opodo and same flights were £40 cheaper if you did a free trial to some club they have.
Booked and paid the flights and got the success email. Proceeded to pay the deposit for the swim part.
Anyway on logging into the opodo app, once they sent me the link. was showing the booking as pending with a note saying could take up to 24 hours.
24 hours pass and still pending, getting a little concerned as have comitted to a fair chunk of cash for the rest of the trip so decide to get in contact.
First online chat person said keep waiting, second said system issue.
Twitter opperative pasted standard "see faq on website" response. I explained the issue in detail, they re-pasted same response.
Meanwile easyjet showing low availability.
Back on chat, 'Oh problem charging your card you'll have to wait 24 hours more to see what happens" - charge was showing as debited on my account.
Got on the phone, really struggled to commnuicate the issue. Only response was... you need to keep waiting see if the booking confirms.
Said i didn't want to keep waiting - Just wanted to know if i had actually had flights booked or not - Ok one sec, please hold, click, click, click. "ok i've cancelled your booking.
What NO Why??
You said you did'nt want to wait anymore.
Panic ensued at that point and booked directly with airline.
Anyway what comes through an hour later -> Booking confirmation from opodo - (72 hours after paying)
So now i have 2 sets of flights.
Doubt Opodo will give me my money back - not sure i have it in my locker for £110
Lesson learned - More fool me for being a cheepskate.
rant over 🙁
