Need to upgrade our existing 2nd Gen iPad as it's slower than a week in the jail.
I use it mostly as the business go to device so it's surfing, mail, spreadsheets & documents that get the most use...so a little concerned that size does matter.
It'll definitely be a retina version so it's a toss up between the mini or air.
What's the general view / experiences?
Generally it's all about the portability and form feel. I prefer the mini retina, but your use sounds like an air with keyboard would be best.
I replace my 1st Gen full size for a mini retina. Much nicer size.
Another friend was telling me how he wouldn't buy a full sized one now... then my G/f got a mini retina, I remain unconvinced TBH & as I'm not that sold on it over my full sized ipad (though getting hold of it to play is an issue). For pure portability the mini is way ahead though, but as you using it for documents I'd be swaying towards the air for that extra screen size, though obviously I'd reconsider that if you wanted it for 'home' use though.
Wife as Air I have Mini. General consumer use music, travel and taking notes prefer the Mini. Any real 'input' work prefer the Air.

For your use, I think air - a lot smaller than your gen2 and still screen space to easily poke things.
For me, I went mini - I far prefer the size for reading text (let alone portability).
OK, thanks all. I think you've pushed me towards the air. I've a pal coming over the pond next week...hope he's got space in his case!
