I remember a lot of people asying they were going to get this when it came out. Well, it's out. Have you all bought it? What do you think?

I like it - properly difficult and makes you think about everything - terrain, ammo etc. I've just rescued the downed helicopter crew. Haven't tried online mode yet but I'm looking forward to it.

What system do you have it on? I'm debating whether to get it on PS3 or PC.

I've got the PS3 version. It seems to work fine. I remember playing the original OFP on the PC and having to learn what all the different buttons were, but that's much easier on the PS3. I imagine aiming would be easier though as I find it difficult to fine-adjust the sights.

I'd wait. I have it. it's not bad at all but very buggy, online servers are a joke rarely work and when they do are piss poor. PC doesn't even use dedicated servers so have to rely on P2P. Patches are due out for the PC soon, it may help but just be warned for now it's bad news. Some people can't even get full graphic settings as it refuses to import the settings into the game.

Co-op plays well if you have 3 friends and get them to connect direct to your IP avoiding the CM servers.

PS3 it is then.

How does it compare to COD? Does it still keep the free roaming feel of the original? I'm getting very bored of "corridor" games where you can't explore the environment. Most of the COD games are repetitively dull like that.

I find it difficult to fine-adjust the sights.

Noob 😉

Absolutely.

Huge islands free to explore. Commandeer civilian and enemy vehicles. You can choose how you go about completing the objectives - divide your team and flank? Gung-ho assault? Sneaky-sneaky? Engage at a distance?

I suggest you take a look on the OFP:DR forum if you think it'll be all rosy with the PS3.

Yeah it's free roaming but if you wander off then you can't do the mission in play and some of them or on a time limit or a team to defend, so not that much of a sandbox game.

I got it on the 360, its as hard as nails, really struggling to get to grips with it though.

From what i am hearing its much better paying it in CO-OP mode with a few mates.

Oh and ermm how can I put this.

The game is on the PC is opening itself up for cheats and pirates as they some how didn't think it was necessary to have a CD-key. 😉

Drac - thanks 😀

Keys are pointless on PC though, so easy to circumvent.

The add-ons on the original PC version were great. A whole new island, extra vehicles and weapons took days to download over dial up though!

[geek] OPF:DR is only a sequel in name, the developers (bohemia interactive) of the original OFP had a falling out with codemasters (who own the OFP name)and took their ball (the game engine) while codemasters kept the name, Bohemia then made Arma and Arma 2 which are PC only and are rather good, and apparently Arma 2 is quite a bit better than OFP:DR[/geek]

Not if you want to play online they're not.

I disagree, whilst I did like Arma, I much prefer OFP:DR. Arma 2 is a buggy, horrible, POS, I gave up after a about an hour when the AI started running round in circles.

OFP:DR is soo much more polished, and whilst it does have a few bugs they aren't deal breakers that ruin the entire game. Graphically, it's much nicer also, even on my three year old graphics card. It's even dragged me away from Fallout three.
