I'm comparing two sets of columns side by side, like so
A B C D E F
So I want to compare the values in A with those in D, B with E and so on. Values A and D are the index that identifies the row to compare. Problem is, the first set is in ascending order of A and the second in descending order of D.
It should be simple to highlight all the DEF data and click sort, but it doesn't seem to let me sort on D like I would expect.. wtf?
If ever there was a job for a vlookup......
Edit:trying to be helpful, is col d the same data format as the others?
It works for me. I'm assuming you're in Calc not Writer.
It didn't work the first time, because I didn't think carefully enough about "ascending" and "descending" and tried to sort it into the order it was already in...
Well I figured it out. If you click on the sort button, it decides which column to use. If you go to the Data menu and click Sort... you get to choose.
I hate Open Office. Ok so it's free, but it's shit.
