I remember years ago a lady friend of mine who has 36" inside legs (long legs) was trying to find some lingerie that fitted.

She googled "Long legged ladies underwear" and was quite shocked at the images returned.

Oh, I have only ever found porn sites deliberately. They are easy to find but difficult to accidently wander onto.

It happened that once in the televised select committee… but I think I got away with it. Oh… and that time in the televised House of Commons session… pretty sure I got away with that as well. No one was watching.

He says he'll resign if found guilty?

Surely that's going to go like this:

Did you do it?
Yes
Guilty
Bye

I had a similar experience when I was having trouble with a nerve in my face and I googled "facial numbness".

I once accidentally picked up a copy of Razzle instead of the Guardian and didn’t realise my error until somebody pointed out my mistake as I read it in the office.

I see that he’s gone for his bosses ‘we must wait for the results of the enquiry’ line

When I watched him being interviewed in front of the countries media though, my first thought was ‘what on earth is he wearing?!’

I think that they should stream the videos that he was watching on all major news channels.

Just so we can judge for ourselves based on the evidence of course.

He'll claim he has an addiction and should be supported not punished.

Did have to laugh at the interview, where he stated he was concerned about the embarrassment that this matter was causing his wife and family....own it, it's all on you.

I used to work for a very large UK company and got involved in a case like this. I had to deliver a guys laptop to our security group for investigation and I remember them telling me that they accepted porn sites could be designed to inadvertently draw you in but the key was how long did it take you to close it down.....and did you revisit it.

The BBC states he was viewing in the Chamber AND in a Select Committee so that doesn't sound like a one off error to me.

From Twitter a couple of days ago -

@sturdyAlex: Look forward to:

- Absolutely no porn was watched.
- There was porn, but I was ambushed by it.
- I'm furious that nobody advised me it was porn.
- Who doesn't watch porn at work, really.
- It would be wrong to preempt the porn inquiry.
- MOVE ON, YOU PRUDES. THERE'S A WAR ON!

Why didn’t they follow up his “opened by mistake” statement with a question why were you on your phone when you should be paying attention to the HoC/select committee proceedings?

Handy surname for a bit of alliteration- Pervy Parish

My lad had 'pawn' ping an alert to us from his phone yesterday.

He insisted it was chess pieces, he was too quick with his answer for me to think he's lying, but we still had a chat about viewing movies etc.

Surely when in a meeting or the Chamber you just turn your phone off? Even just leaving it in your pocket is enough. He should be concentrating on what is being discussed, not surfing the web. If you need to make or take notes in use a sodding notepad and pen.

Playing devils advocate as in no way attempting to defend the bloke, but surely most of us have clicked on that thing in the WhatsApp group chat and wished we hadn’t….after watching it 5 times.

No, the little preview picture and who has sent it is usually a big clue as to whether it's suitable for viewing or not. Easily avoided by just not looking at your phone at important times.

Patagonian covers it quite well, I think.

When I worked for DWP there was a computer secure room where random screenshots of what staff were looking at on their computers were taken, that was eye opening, often for messages between staff rather than websites in use.

One of my favourite episodes of Ab Fab is the one where June Whitfield was struggling to shut down the Internet as she was "caught in a porn loop". Terry Scott never knew what he'd been missing.

They should be treated like kids in school - no phones rule and lockers outside the chamber to put them in. They’re all supposed to be there working, representing our interests not playing wordle, reading stw or getting frothy watching porn.

Happened once years ago. The .co.uk site was a booking agency for wedding / ceilidh bands and the .com site was hardcore gay porn. Luckily I was at home and not at work.

Many years ago I sent a marketing info for website filtering software made by sun microsystems to all the schools in the country.

www.sun.com was mistyped so we asked them all to visit sin . com instead. luckily the wilds of the internet weren't so wild back then.

No word of a lie. I was googling CAMRA at work in 2000 and there was a porn site that was camra.com or something similar. I clicked on it and nearly shit myself when it opened to definitely not photos of bearded sandal wearing men. I closed it quickly but spent the next month or so worried I was going to be sacked.

My dad was involved in the early iterations of school internet, search engines. We’re in Yorkshire and in a demo some older geezer asked him to search up Black Dyke 🤣. Not sure if web filtering had been invented yet.

In Parish news, I think his wife should keep quiet judging by her comments in the press.

His wife, Sue Parish, told the Times the accusations were “all very embarrassing”, adding: “My breath was taken away, frankly.

“People shouldn’t be looking at pornography. He would never just sit there with people looking. He would never just do that knowing [people were looking]. These ladies were quite right to be as [upset] as they were.

Describing her husband as a “normal … lovely person”, she added: “If you were mad with every man who looked at pornography, you would not have many wives in the world.

“It’s degrading. It’s demeaning. But on the other hand it takes two to tango. There must be women posing for all this.”

It is a lot easier to visit a site you didn't mean to if it is in your history or favourites, or on a tab that was last on your browser when you shut it down etc. Particularly on phones, you may only be a fat finger (oo er missus) or arse type away.

Plus, the porn in question may have been stored on the device.

For gods sake he should admit it and whilst he's at it point out that 99% of men and probably 50% of women (or maybe more) use pornography on a regular basis. And whilst it's not a good idea to watch it at work (but let's also be honest the proportion of people who have done that is likely almost as high as those that use it generally), it's no more an indictment of what's wrong with the world than watching TV.

And whilst it’s not a good idea to watch it at work

Not only is it not a good idea, most companies would probably sack the person watching it. MPs don't work for a company so feel they can do what they want as they "work" for the people that elected them.

Hence it's not a good idea. On your own device in a toilet is one thing. In a public debating chamber is a different kettle of booty. 🤦‍♂️

I have an associate who is the most arrogant, pompous arse you could ever meet. Within seconds of meeting him he’ll tell you about his first from Oxford. Fancies himself, something rotten

However, I also know someone who used to work with him who told me he was sacked for downloading porn onto work computers

I’m keeping that one in my locker for when he really irritates me 😃

Well that’s a bold claim

Only if you interpret it as 'regularly watch porn at work' rather than 'ever watched it at work'; my suggestion is the latter, and I'm fairly sure it's accurate.

These days 'at work' also means something different. At work is perhaps less vexatious than 'in a work environment'.

He shouldn't need to. Thanks to the Tories' own Investigatory Powers Act the ISP must have a record of his habits. Is this your petard, sir?

I can honestly say I have never intentionally watched porn at work.

However, one day I was wondering about how far through a typical piece of timber epoxy resin would travel if pressurised and if it would be possible to get the epoxy to fully saturate the grain.

So, while at work, I typed, 'Wood impregnation 100% penetration' into google.

Let's just say I didn't find out anything about epoxy.

I've posted this before but it's been a few years so,

Back in the mid-90’s, when having access web was pretty novel, I had an ISDN Internet connection at work. I ended up using it a lot to provide information to our tech support guys, so I asked management if we could get access for the techs directly rather than them mithering me every five minutes to download stuff for them.

After a bit of persuasion, the MD and his brother dropped by unannounced at my desk (the company was owned by an Asian family, all the upper echelons were brothers and cousins). They wanted to know what this Internet thing was, could I show them?

So, I fired up Internet Explorer 2 or Netscape Navigator or whatever whilst preambling about how different companies were now getting a web presence and so on. I showed them the address bar and explained about URLs, and how sites were typically “www.[companyname].com”. I typed in “www.microsoft.com” and at 64kbps, the MS site rendered slowly down the screen.

With the brothers suitably impressed, I was on a roll and getting into my stride. Tech have been having a lot of bother recently with DTK motherboards, I explained, requiring firmware updates and driver disks and the like. They probably have downloadable drivers on their site, or maybe a knowledgebase. Let’s take a look.

So I duly typed in “www.dtk.com” and sat in quiet contemplation with two devout Muslims watching on, as the “Dress To Kill” rubberware and fetish gear website unfolded on the screen.

After the longest few seconds’ silence of my life, the MD quietly said, “yes, I don’t think we’ll be getting that” and they shambled off.

Bravo dir, well played

My team deal with claims for R&D tax relief. One of my colleagues had to investigate a claim by a company who were claiming a world leading breakthrough in producing lingerie for the fuller figured lady.

HMRC filters would not let her check the website, so she had to use her phone. Which led to raised expectations from her fiance, as she is a fuller figured lady....

Watching porn during office hour in front of a crowd? Really? Something is really wrong with the world.

I had friends sending me porn via social network because they thought it was funny, while drunk in in the pub. They thought it was a good idea/laugh to wind me up. We are talking about different time zones so when they sent it they were having their happy hour.

On one or two occasions the message looked innocent but the moment I clicked it the volume was at a max. Nearly gave me a heart attack. Luckily I knew their tricks. I had to tell them off so no more porn sending to me now.

Anyway, if people are still watching porn without any form of control in public, there must be something badly wrong in their private life. I don't care what they do in their private time but certainly disrespectful in public.

it’s all gone a bit Sir Norman Fry

LOL! That's a funny clip.

I’ve been PMSL at some of posts on this thread (…thank you😁).

Does remind me of a disturbing incident when I was at a uni research centre. A colleague was working late, went for tea break and when she came back to her office, found a masters student tugging off to porn in the ‘open study area’. He hadn’t seen her, so she dodged into her office and locked herself in until he’d gone.

What surprised me was that she didn’t report him, or tell us who it was. I think she was afraid of what the other guys would have done to him….the dirty shi**!
