Yes - really good if you like that sort of thing. Which one are you going to?

Certainly has a good reputation and it's usually very busy. I was a bit underwhelmed but it was ok.

Will be going to the one that’s a restaurant. Coming from near Hereford with the family for the day. We are all burger fans 🙂

So the Bedminster one? I think their burgers are hard to beat if you like dirty burgers.

If you're in the market for a burger that tastes like it's taking years off your life expectancy(in a good way), they're hard to beat. They do what they do better than most 'posh' burger places. The portions of fries are mahoosive though, I hugely over ordered the first time!

The beer factory brewery tap just up the road is also worth a visit.

We've got some great burgers in Bristol now. Hobgoblin is still number one. Oowee has probably moved up a place with a the demise of grill stock but I've not tried bare grills that replaced it yet.

Schwartz Burgers in Bath are still making great burgers after thirty-odd years! I used to drive down to Bath of an evening just for one of their burgers.
Now we’ve got a decent burger place in town I don’t need to do a twenty-five mile round trip of an evening!

Is that the same Schwartz bros that used to be down Gloucester Road in Bristol.
Was always a toss up beteeen there and Miss Millies on a night out*

*Sometimes both if it was an all dayer

Or the Sun Valley for a sit down meal

Thems was the days

So the verdict is : very underwhelmed!
It was really nice actually, but for me all burgers are judged against the Beefy Boys in Hereford, and the Oowee offering was a league below. It felt like a good quality BigMac.

Have you tried The Burger Shop in Hereford? They are my favourite so far.

I like Oowee but have learned not to overdo it, single patty is plenty! And the dirty fries are a meal on their own, I definitely couldn't have a burger as well.

The new vegan oowee on Baldwin St is worth a try as well. To be honest in terms of the meat and the burger as a whole, I could not tell the difference. Actually the only giveaway was the cheese which was not very convincing.

Burger Bear on Gloucester Rd does a better dirty burger than Oowee IMO.

Chomp for a nice standard no frills burger

Kensington for a fancy gastro pub burger

Wings Diner in Small Bar for the best fried chicken in town

While we're on Bristolian comfort food, is anyone else addicted to Eat a Pitta? I've eaten it since they started as a Prince's Trust start-up on St Nicks market, but they're still the most crack-like foodstuff ever and now have shops on both my commutes home the swines.

Their falafel is very good. Only been to the one on Gloucester Rd and it is a bit chaotic with ordering so I still haven't had a great service experience but the food is good. In st nicks you are spoilt for choice for good food

Schwartz is OK but nowadays the burger has been gentrified and they have been left behind in terms of quality with the likes of gbk etc

I had no idea this was a thing so I just looked up the menu. A peanut butter bacon jelly burger exists. <Whimpers and exits for a cold shower>

Eat a Pitta is the best falafel in Bristol but I have to admit that these days if I’m in St Nick’s I’ll be heading straight for an authentic kebab from Matina. Amazing.

Kebab feels wrong at lunchtime. I associate it with downtime. Try Lona up near the prison for the a full on kebabfest. 2 foot wide platter of skewered delights.

Chrisdw - yes I love the burger shop. I think the Burgers in the Beefy Boys are better, but the sides in the Burger Shop are better. A combo of the two would be perfect 😀🍔

It’s a good, clean kebab though - just a well cooked chicken shish with great veg and a freshly cooked flatbread.
