Should have kept his mouth shut regardless of what he thinks.

He really is a kn@b, but had re-deemed himself ( to a point) over the last year, by being one of the few members of the MSM to ask the hard questions of our shambolic leaders. Well, I suppose a Leopard can't change it's spots, or whatever.

I hate the **** but he's the only mainstream broadcast journalist that holds the government to account so govt will be breathing a sigh of relief unfortunately

Despite voting for his party so liked him enough back then. The only reason he does that is because he refuses to go on his show. Piers is an absolute idiot im glad hes off tv. Bet his co-host is stoked she now gets to talk without being constantly talked over.

Feel sorry for Suzanne TBH. Andrew Marr is better for drilling MP's. I do quite like him.

Morgan is bully and sexist, and a Tw**

He'll resurface like a particularly unflushable turd at some point.

"Saying the unsayable on behalf of the moral majority who have been silenced by the PC Brigade" or somesuch toss.

The world would be a better place if he just shut his fat irrelevant gob and ****ed off, but life is not that good unfortunately.

I'll never forget listening to I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue on Radio 4 one teatime when Steven Fry described the word Countryside in the Uxbribge English Dictionary as "Killing Piers Morgan"

I don't watch breakfast telly though MrsMC has it on when she's getting ready in the morning. She couldn't tear herself away from it this morning, rather wish I'd stayed to watch him.

He's been great at calling out the crap handling of the pandemic, Otherwise he's an awful human being.

No, what he does so is spout whatever he think will get him to be popular, thankfully it massively backfired this am. I caught the part where he was belittling mental health, he as being show down but kept spouting on. He suddenly went silent, I expect he was told to stop as ITV promotes supporting mental health. Anyway he’s off mainstream TV which is a win.

The snowflakiest of snowflakes! 😂 The man who has spent his life insulting people and then having a go at them for taking offence, literally has no backbone and takes offence himself when someone calls him out for being the bigot that he is?

I never watch morning telly out of choice, but my g/f does, and if we’re both up at the same time, she usually has This Morning on, much to my annoyance because that odious turd Morgan is normally the host, and those two quotes really sum up his behaviour - asking a question, then repeatedly talking loudly over the guest, never letting them fully answer before he asks another question, or else asking the same question as if they haven’t answered at all.
I’m not a violent person as a rule, but just give me a baseball bat and five minutes alone with Morgan... 😈

One of the original pantomime dames mantomime lames. He’ll never be out of business as long as there is veggie sausages, outspoken women, AGW and brown people who speak up about racism.

He found a gravy train that goes on forever.

As others have guessed, he’s no doubt already signed up as the ‘liberal’ foil to some Right Red Herring show in the wings. Antiwoke - the musical? Great British Breakfast Radio? Snowflakes Come Dancing?

Agree. He was actually useless at dealing with politicians.
Ask them a question that they are not prepared for
They do a typical politician avoid the question
He asks again
They do a typical politician avoid the question
He asks again
They do a typical politician avoid the question

10 minutes later the interview is over with nothing gained as only one question was asked and was never going to be answered. A good political interviewer would have moved on rather than waste the 10 minutes.

How self blind is Morgan??
He has tweeted a Churchill quote saying he is happy to die on the hill of free speech

"Everyone is in favor of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its being extolled. Some people's idea of it is that they are free to say what they like but if anyone else says anything back, that is an outrage." - Winston Churchill

Does he not realise this also applies to him in spades?

He does. Most of his audience doesn't. He is appealing to the kind of person who thinks that they are somehow discriminated against because it has thankfully become unacceptable to use racist/sexist language.

Is he so obsessed with Meghan because he tried to pull her and she ended up with Harry instead?

Blokes a ****. It's been a fairly bizarre thing over the last 12 months where he's basically been the media voice of common sense with regards to Covid.

Funny how after a year of hammering Johnson he's resorted to the same Chruchill meme playbook though 😂 The whole free speech thing is both incredibly complicated and incredibly simple for me.....it doesnt exist in our society. You are legally (quite rightly) not allowed to say any number of things, so in that sense we don't have 'free speech'. Where you draw the line is obviously much harder to define.

It is, but rule number one is a good place to start. And Morgan is always on the wrong side of that even when his point is valid.

I know others have said this but every stage of this has played out exactly how he wanted.

He leaves a contract early with maximum publicity before going off to a new, more lucrative contract. Perfect stuff (for him), exactly what he intended.

Brand Morgan will be back, its worked well for him and ITV during the last 12 months appearing to be the man taking on the government (whilst simultaneously not landing a glove on them) and now as GB News (government broadcasting?) is recruiting and the alt-right/right-wing claim they have been silenced (pleeeeaaaaasssse....) now that the shouty orange poppet has departed his throne of tweets across the sea, perhaps they reached out to Morgan in an attempt to drag across a few floating voters from vague centre right (whatever that is) to join them. He will sit to the left of most on that show but perhaps he can double up as a royal correspondent given his expertise in that area or become the mental health champion, again he is blessed with an apparent expertise in that area also.

Countryside? yes, but don't be surprised if he returns like canoe man (hard done to IMO) but with a slightly different link to Panama.

Worth catching the James o Brien podcast where they engaged an his war on woke and gets his arse handed to him by JoB

Roundly slapped down by much more skilled polemicist

The point above about all this paving the way for his appointment as token 'left'* commentator on GB news is pretty on the nose

* By their standards

Until I read this Newsweek piece yesterday I didn’t know about Morgan and Markel’s previous meeting which seems to have triggered his ridiculous obsession with Megan.

https://www.newsweek.com/how-meghan-markle-exposed-piers-morgans-misogyny-opinion-1574929?utm_source=Flipboard&utm_medium=App&utm_campaign=Partnerships

He’s a very sad little man.

He's pretty portly actually. Definitely carrying a bit of timber.

So his problem is that he didn't get to give the ferret a run when he thought he might be in with a chance of pulling her....

Sounds about right to me - fits the 'late middle aged prick who has got where he is by bullying and bluffing so reckons he is a bit of a player' mould pretty well, I would say.

Blimey, Piers has been walking around London a lot today. I'm sure he walks around London a lot though, he's a fitness freak for sure. He has a bit more time on his hands today admittedly but is a very keen walker.

Yes, he walks a lot.

Met at least one admiring fan which must have embarrassed him massively.

He went for another walk afterwards to get over the embarrassment before going for a recovery walk.

Oh, and my desire for five minutes with Morgan and a baseball bat isn’t connected in any way to countryside, merely a chance to leave him a bit bruised!

This burns!

It doesn't really. It is entirely accurate, justified and quite well done, but it is just attention for him.

This really is life by panto audience participation technique...

Oh yes it is.

The baddy comes on, everyone boos. The goody comes on, everyone cheers. The sheer predictable safety of it all distracts from the core truth. There is no plot, the actors can't act and it is just an exercise is getting people to part with cash for a bray and a laugh. But everyone loves a bit of panto and everyone remembers the bit where the wicked witch sprayed water over the front row. Oh how we laughed.

Outside the theatre the police were breaking up a protest rally with excessive force, but those inside weren't aware of it.

Panto baddie is quite accurate actually.

In reality he's clever, perceptive and sometimes even charming, but he sort-of plays the character of an oafish, obnoxious bellend as his job (on screen and on social media).

OK, he doesn't have to try too hard, and he might be a sociopathic narcissist, but he can be quite good when he wants to be.

Anyway, I saw Popbitch reported that the unusual speed with which ITV confirmed his departure was possibly related to him telling someone senior there to **** off following his little tantrum.

Maybe but then you end up with Marr who just gives an opportunity for Tories to blether on about whatever they want for the entire time without being obliged to answer anything.
