I have just been told that I'm in charge of turkey this Christmas, I'd have preferred a bit more notice, but there we go. Yes, it has to be a turkey, no, I can't get another meat or go vege.
I therefore need to buy a turkey. My local butchers are pretty average in truth and I'm never sure of the quality of their produce.
So, I'm heading online, looking for a bronze, free-range turkey. There, unsurprisingly, seems to be loads of "farms" selling them, some for quite ridiculous prices.
Any idea of good, reliable online sellers? My, rather well to do mother in law has suggested Kelly's turkey's but they are not cheap...
Nope but the inlaw thoroughly recommend Rob Newey in K'ford, I'm pretty sure your near by
(hopefully there aren't the ones you think are pretty average).
I'd get to it quick as our (more local to me) butcher shut their book on the 1st
@z1ppy, I believe his book is closed. The average ones are the 2 in Stourbridge Town Centre.
doh! 😥
Don't know where you are, but for the last decade we've been getting our bronze turkey from the local farm - now doing online and uk deliveries....
The last 3 years I've used Eversfield https://eversfieldorganic.co.uk/collections/organic-turkey-goose-duck and been very happy with the quality (the pricing not so much :p ). I actually used them for the first time after an M&S food delivery missed the turkey off the order (they didn't even offer a chicken substitute...), Eversfield was the first place I found that still had some available for next day delivery (I think it was 22nd December by then). Credit to M&S, I complained after ordering a replacement from Eversfield and they sent one out next day to (so we ended up with 2 turkeys that year).
Problem is the last 2 years of deliveries from Eversfield (inc. lots of other bits and pieces) have both arrived a day late and involved the stress of panicked phone calls and hoping DPD actually turn up the next day (with no real alternative if they didn't) and last year I noticed the local M&S had loads of decent turkeys still for sale on the 23rd so this year I'm not going to bother ordering online, it just added stress you don't need IMO (obviously if you're ordering frozen online you can get it delivered earlier so you won't have that issue).
We’ve been using Donald Russell for all meat for sometime now: https://www.donaldrussell.com
Theres a food poverty donation offer available too.
Spendy but if you care at all about the life the animal has had, Piper's Farm are good. Their meat tastes excellent.
I've used Herb Fed successfully in the past. I'd rather feed people quality food than save a few quid though based on your Kelly's not cheap comment.

Get in now if you want it for Christmas! I can vouch for them as I know them personally and have worked there.
