I need a suit for my wedding, as the groom I wouldn't be allowed in my biking gear. Wandered in to Exeter, couldn't find anything, got stressed and went to pub instead.
Any decent online retailers to look at? Must have decent returns policy as I often struggle with suits due to my fat thighs. Not really expensive, but not cheap either. Mid range.

Hire a kilt. Problem solved
A suit needs to fit.
Even more so for your wedding!
A little while in a shop will, solve your problem.
M&S have a broad range, suit most budgets. Must be one down there, shirley.
Oh, and congratulations!

Why?
MrsTH and I getting married, last year....

Leaving the town hall/registry office with one of the witnesses...
M&S / John Lewis do a fitting service, I'd book a slot with one of them...
I cycled to my wedding with cynic-al. Why you need a kilt
Next is worth a try, I used them this year for me and my Best Man/Ushers.
We did have some issues finding sizes to suit us all in some ranges as we differed greatly in sizes but the returns policy was great. Just dropped everything off/had it delivered to the Next Home I pass on my commute so parking was easy.
How do you define 'expensive'?
Find a bespoke tailor and get a suit which will fit perfectly - in your choice of material, lining, buttons, pockets....everything. Give yourself at least three months for fittings, alts etc.
Step down from that would be made to measure; standard block with some scope to vary size.
Off the peg - not for me for something as significant as own wedding.
Not my wedding so this is a purely personal opinion.
Oh, congratulations.
Clifton Suits in Bristol will do something bespoke for you for not much more than an off the peg suit.
JP
Hire one if you're not a regular suit wearer and unlikely to need it again.
JP - highly doubtful; unless their ready mades are £1500+ or their bespoke is made to measure - which is 'poor man's bespoke'.
I am rubbish at buying clothing that fits. However, I've always found M&S have stuff that fits me with enough faffing around and trying stuff on. For something actually important like this, I'd take a friend who is good at this stuff (might take some finding in my case!) and can help me find something that fits properly before I get stressed and just buy something rubbish.
Cheers guys. Like the idea of a kilt but I have zero Scottish heritage... So I'd feel a bit of a fraud!
I may have to suck it up and head to M&S or John Lewis, with the proviso if I find a suit I can then head to the pub for a celebratory drink.

Do it man. They're ace. Nothing fraudulent about it.
slaters
Next outlet store in Street have a good range, obviously a lottery for sizes but good pricing.
Have a look at the M&S England World Cup suits. They're the suits they produced for the football team. Excellent quality suits and good value. The most recent one is a very smart navy.
+1 for Slater's
Walk in. My budget is X. Occasion is y and colour is z.
They will do the leg work and modify to suit with no real input from you other than yes-no.
Not expensive either.
Tom Howard- that photo of you riding out of the registry office is bloody brilliant!
Slaters, they’ll do the adjustments for free and have a good range to chose from. Not sure of your budget, but £300 will get you a good 3 piece, £200 is doable as well. Save a couple of quid for a good, white shirt (CT Shirts extra slim non-iron is a good start) and a good pair of shoes and you’re not far off. Add a tie and pocket square to your taste.
+1 for going into M&S and throwing yourself on the mercy of a nice, helpful middle-aged lady.
Personally I'd look for something stylish and single-breasted in a dark-ish grey, not too trendy that it'll look dated in future (like the chalk-stripe grey & violet Richard James number I got hitched in).
