Hi,

My 11 year old daughter has decided just before lock down that she would like to try the piano so I have resurrected an old keyboard we have. She isn't getting on with just following a book so recommendations for online tutorial type websites or programs would be ideal.

I have been learning guitar through Justin Guitar for a while but trying a 3 month free trial of Fender Play and really liking it.

We will get her proper one to one lessons once this is over but for now I just want to keep her interest up and allow her to mess around

Thanks.

My 7-year-old has been learning with an app called "Simply Piano" which seems to engage him well and has lots of (moderately awful) versions of pop songs he can play along to. It listens to your playing so gives you points if you hit the right notes at the right time and seems to have game-like progression. It's free to start with but then paid, but he's enjoying it and has stuck with it - the tailored "5 minute workout" each day seems to be what keeps him coming back, then he plays a few more songs afterwards so it's around 30-45 minutes a day at the moment and he's making great progress.

Seconded simply piano. I got it for my 6 year old and she is playing loads and loves it. I’m also using it to dust off my skills after 20 years of not playing.

How much does simply Piano cost I am struggling to see the actual cost after a 7 day trial period?

I'm away from the iPad (and the house) at the moment, but IIRC it was about £10 a month or £65 a year. We reasoned a couple of months was still cheaper than probably a single lesson.

Pierre, Thanks for that, I am more than happy with £10 per month just didn't twant to have to pay for a year up front if it doesn't get used.

Thanks

If you fancy an actual personal lesson a friend of mine has moved her piano teaching to online.

Any comparisons between Simplypiano and Flowkey?

The current stress of work has knocked me out of the habit but would hope to start back again soon.
