I came back to read the STW forum for the first time in about, er, 10 years and it bought back a wave of nostalgia. L

I've stuck to my "being nice" to people rule today.

Only my boss knows how close I came to going full "Falling Down" on some dumb ass who deserved it.

I lay on the sofa and my just 5 yr old daughter lay a cushion on me and got comfy whilst we watched horrible histories.

After then taking her up for bedtime and reading her a story, I got to go meet a couple of mates for 4 pints before coming home and getting in bed.

Day off work tomorrow means I'm planning a 40-50 mile road ride.

Reality will then set when I get back as I'll go visit my dad in hospital, but the moments described above are what makes life worth living.

Went with FutureMrsHall to her 20week scan yesterday, baby is doing fine and found out baby is boy, he wouldn't stop wriggling. LittleMissHall is excited at becoming a big sister and she helped pick out some clothes for him.

Wow, you lot are amazing.

Funny how no one has celebrated the fact that they won an argument on the internet 😂

Properly learnt the World Cup track at Ft William, yesterday I was surviving just it, today, 1st run, I cruised down and stoped and looked at lines and by the end of the day, had it pretty dialled, I know a like down I’m comfortable with, and if I can get the confidence to clear to river gap I’ll be happy. But I definitely need to work on upper body strength.

If work goes to plan, I’ll be back again next month.

I applied what a colleague calls my "spotlight of truth" saved £100k on a project at work, then went for a 5k run, in the rain, then managed not to burn sausages and chips for tea 🤔

Two old guys sitting on a bench about 30 yards from our bungalow took them a couple of beers, they were well surprised, felt better than drinking them myself.

Changed a 1.5 inch diameter piece of aluminium round stock into a lot of chips. And a 1.5 / 1.25 / 1.25 / 1 inch stepped piece of aluminium tapped M12. It's the start of a headset press.

Finally finished painting the pantry door and frame and refitted the door.
Turns out I'm still crap at painting woodwork but the finish is not only just about acceptable it looks MUCH better that when I started so I'm not beating myself up about it too much.
My inability to complete this (for others) easy task in a reasonable timeframe has been getting me down the last couple of weeks so the fact that it's done at all has made me feel much better.

Shocked myself this morning with my best 20mins effort since before my first jab in early April, just days after my second jab on Tues that thankfully gave less severe and shorter duration side effects. I started the TT aiming to improve on yesterday's best 20mins, improved by 55W, happy but absolutely knackered since!

Village litter pick for a couple of hours this morning. Took the dog for a walk this afternoon then sat in the pub for an hour and talked to one of the older regulars about his trips to Jersey tomorrow. He's not going for the best of reasons, I hope it goes well for him.

Now watching Paul Weller on the telly with a glass of red. Not entirely convinced the angry young man who fronted The Jam would recognise his older self, but I'm quite enjoying it.
