It's all got a bit heavy round these parts recently. Let's lighten the mood, I'm sure that whatever our world view we can all take a moment to reflect on some of the good things.

So, what one thing did you do today that made you feel good. Or just a little bit better.

I'll start, I knocked down a shed, used some of it to build a wood store and chopped the rest of it up.nkw I'm having a beer.

Over to you...

Not something I did, my three year old daughter told me I was her best friend then told me to go away.

Got through an interview for a job to the next stage. After 8 months not working and a few interviews that have come to nothing it feels great to finally be making some sort of progress!

One of my colleagues has been getting a hard time over a project not running to schedule. I've spent some time working with her on it to add some extra help and move some problems. It's not fixed but she called me today out of the blue to say she is much happier she has it in control now.

I don't really care that much about the project, the fact she says she can switch off instead of it being constantly on her mind made me feel good.

Let our two boys get very very muddy out in the garden, on the mud pile they've adopted. I just stood back and mostly enjoyed... They had a lot of fun digging and sploshing water. A pre-bath bath was required.

Did a fast(ish) gravel loop on my 29+ monster cross right after work.
I'd packed the car the night before, and stopped in a carpark on the way home.

Put me in a right good mood 😎

4-6am: made my own mini pannier out of a 5 litre drybag and some Ortlieb spares. Total cost £15 as opposed to the £100/pannier the bikepacking boutique companies would charge me.

7am-ish: engaged in intimate behaviours

9am-5pm: Actual made some progress at work!

5.30-6.45pm: back to back classes at the gym. Crushed them - even the instructor was impressed.

7.30pm - ate Meatballs which have been in the slow cooker for 48 hours. Outstanding!

Went to work for the first time in over 4 weeks, I’ve been so bloody ill I could hardly leave the house. Utterly exhausted now but it felt so good to be with the team again.

A former colleague who really lacks confidence has just messaged me to say he's been offered and accepted a promotion to a much higher profile job.

I feel good on his behalf.

I made my new bed companion a cuppa so it was waiting for her when she woke. After being single for years it's doing little things for someone else that makes me smile a lot.

Rode a wee trail, one of the few I've ever dug out just myself, that I'd not done for ages- someone else's been in and cleaned it up recently and it's riding lovely. Multiple different good feels.

Finally got round to riding this walker's path just down the valley from me. It's a bit of a mission to get to the top of it, but was well worth it for the downhill. The little hamlet it comes out in is called Urine, hence the name of the ride. Pretty warm in the Alps today, was sweating from every pore ">

Took the camper in for its MOT and service. Passed with no problems, cant believe we have had it 6 years.

Jet washed all the block paving, re sanded the joints and just finished sealing it all with paving sealer.

Feidel saved us from being stabbed by bikini clad CIA operatives armed with fountain pens. 😉

Avoiding a Wednesday shift, especially for legitimate reasons, is a big win.

On Tiree in the Hebrides for a week so already pretty good but went windsurfing for the first time in about 30 years this morning and then kitesurfing this afternoon for the first time in 2 years. Had a fabulous time on both, missed time on the water a lot.

I went for an evening ride with daughter and ended up doing CPR on a stranger until the professionals turned up and revived her.

That was good. Massively overwhelming, but good.

I saw a post on Reddit last week about someone's mum who sang down the phone to her after she messaged her saying she was having a crap day.

My other half did exactly that today so I called her and sang 'you are my sunshine' down the phone. Came home to the biggest hug which was nice.

Also arranged a BBQ for the weekend after finally getting our adoption order signed off on Monday. I'm now legally a daddy!

Took my mum to Wisley for her first day out in about 15 months. It's her birthday tomorrow, but weather looked better today. She's been having breathing issues for about 2 years but was absolutely fine today, which means she'll probably rehome a new dog in the near future.

Also, 4th bike ride with MsBeej in a week - she's essentially learning to ride as an adult.

Took myself outside for some VO2max intervals instead of being a slave to the Turbo. Used a DH run to ride uphill for the intervals and after the first one, on the way back down I stacked it badly wearing only short sleeve Xc Lycra.

As I lay on the floor I couldn’t help giggling at the slow motion mental replay of wondering whether I should lift my front wheel or not, with the inevitable “oh wait..”

It’s been a while since I crashed and in a strange way it feels good.

Made the effort to visit a 2nd lidl today, and they did indeed have a mig welder which I hope will still be there tomorrow.
Was tempted just to cycle home, put it down to 'ach balls, I missed it' and have the thought to get something more expensive from machine mart at a later date, which translates as probably next year.

Does mean I will have to do more work now. But glad I made the effort.

Spent time coaching a couple of my work team mates to work in ways that don’t come naturally to them but help them progress (think detail oriented engineers figuring out “pretty colours for directors” as a way to get their ideas funded.

Rode a new trail (to me) on Allermuir. Have had it in my mind since October, had to wait for dry conditions, diary alignments etc. Didn't disappoint. Earned myself a beer in the setting sun.

With business being very busy and my oldest daughter growing up (13) and being more independent we’ve hardly spent any quality time together recently. But tonight we went on a 25 mile road ride, stopped for ice cream from local diary farm. Nice spending time together away from the usual stresses of home/school/work.

Similar to above [integra's!], trimmed my partner's hair with my clippers. It's funny cos it's something we agreed we'd never do, but she requested it and I did a good job. 😀

My youngest lad chased me down the driveway this morning as I was heading off to work and insisted on one last kiss and cuddle. On the way to work I thought that if for some horrible reason we didn't see each other again, it was a perfect moment.

I made sure a passenger on my coach got to his destination, after he’d been robbed.
And i also gave him a drink and £10.
Poor ****er was (absolutely literally) on his knees, nobody should have to do that.
Hopefully he can pass it along one day.

I’ve actually be taking my lunch break and have taken to driving to some local jumps and having a right laugh.

Even only 25 mins and 3-5 miles is epic fun for a lunch break.

I’m now thinking about getting my coaster brake bike fixed up and jump ready 😂

Had a school refuser in class for a double lesson made her laugh and got her to answer two questions.

Then went for a gentle ride with the dogs.

Then did an hour at the pumptrack with a manual machine getting kids to practise their balance point.

Then had a wee post 2nd Jag collapse at home

Had the dreaded "do you fix bikes" question off a neighbour a few weeks back. Took her sons BSO in to have a look but had none of the parts needed to sort it.
Kept forgetting to let her know i couldn't fix it and felt bad for not giving it back sooner so I ordered the bits that were needed (little odds n sods like missing barrel adjusters) and rather than just fix it myself have agreed that i will fix it with her son so he knows how to do it in future.

Yesterday I finally got round to taking the bathroom door off and trimming 6mm off the bottom by hand so that I could fit a new threshold strip between the hall and bathroom.
This morning I've pulled a muscle in my back by bending down slightly to get a pair of socks out of the drawer. Now sat in agony hoping the ibruprofen kicks in soon. Life is a rollercoaster! I'm only 35 - these sorts of things aren't meant to happen yet.

Helped delivery Bikeability course to the P7s at my kids primary school with some other volunteers over the past few mornings. L2 stuff, so teaching them how to ride safely on the roads. Lots of different levels of ability and confidence but great to see them grow and improve, even if it was only for a few hours. Better to be out in the sunshine on bikes than in the classroom!

Changed the spec on a made to measure shirt by adding an extra 1.5cm to the left hand cuff so there’s room for a watch.

Felt dirty at first but then remembered wearing half mast trousers and my elder sisters jumper (with patched elbows) at school so felt good about the obsessive detail.

After six months working in Bahrain in forty-plus temperatures with no cycling I got home last week to my family and first FS frame (Bird Aether 7). Today is my first day out of isolation and I'm sitting in the pub in Princetown sipping a Guinness and just about to throw myself down the Widowmaker.

I played a nice game of fetch in the back garden with our 4 month old WCS. He loves it, and is bringing the ball back all the time now. He is starting to have some effect on easing my anxiety. It's really quite nice when we take 10 minutes to play a little game together.

I accepted the notice of a problem employee, told them they'd never amount to much elsewhere and then pretended to beg them to stay.
Looks like I've done a good job of removing any nagging doubt they want to go and I reckon when I suggest it tomorrow they'll be happy to cut their notice short and save me 2 months pay.
