I'm a freelance photographer and occasionally produce short, product based videos for clients.

Always use DSLR's, Canon 5DMK2 and 7D. As yet all the video's I have done have not required me to record sound.

I have been asked to produce an instructional video which will be used on the clients website. The video bit is fine but I am going to have to record sound, basically someone talking through using the product.

I'm leaning towards shooting the video and then recording a separate voice-over which I will put together in post.

However it is also possible that I will record the chap speaking as he demonstrates the product. I have no idea how to do this, I do know that I don't want to use the on camera mic.

I don't have a mic and really have no experience of what to hire. I think it would have to be wireless, something I can hook him up to while he does his thing. I am guessing I would have to attach the other end of it to the camera.

Anyone got any ideas??
