My lad wants to download an autoclicker - in his eyes the whole world uses these tools to game. Feels like a complete scam on all counts really but it is what it is…
For me rule 101 is don’t download free widgets like this on the pc. Been there, got the T shirt. But he is persistent and ‘all his mates use them’. OP Auto Clicker is one that’s been mentioned.
Does anyone know anything about this?
cheers
I hear that - I added that this issue wouldn’t exist if there wasn’t these incentives in games to stay online - but I just sounded old and way past it at this point!
My lad managed to get himself a ban on one of his favourite games by using one (without my knowledge). If he is planning to use it on something with anti-cheat, he should accept the possibility of losing his account/progress etc.
Good point. Don’t think he has considered that!
which one did he use?? Thing is there is a high chance he will download one of these things. May as well be one that someone else has tried!!
What's it for? I was talking about stuff that makes you click very fast, rather than just clicking every now and again to keep it from turfing you off a server.
@martinhutch - just to keep him on line. Apparently, the longer you stay on, the more free stuff you get. I have to admit this pisses me off on many levels. Puts the panic into them as if they will get left behind or something.

@scot - now that’s mint!
How old is he?
The chance of downloading something unpleasant is high. The chance of getting busted and banned from the game is high (which, granted, will fix the issue permanently and be a life lesson).
But he is persistent and ‘all his mates use them’
All his mates are saying the same thing to their parents. Were you never young?
Some games have giveaways via Twitch. The longer you watch, the more free stuff you get.
Yeah, but you just stick the stream on in the background and go and do something else.
Don't under estimate the power consumption of a gaming PC setup, idling in games is certainly not free!
You could inform him that, if he wants one, he needs to build one himself. Steep learning curve of course, but they don't look like they would be that hard to program.
If he's not keen (which he won't be when there is an instant download), at least with OP Auto Clicker the software can be downloaded from Sourceforge. This does makes it somewhat safer than some of the alternatives as I understand Sourceforge do scan all files they serve for malware. I'd he happier still if it was possible to download the actual sorce files (maybe it is, I'm just not risking it).
If he gets a Razer Deathadder V2 mouse, he can create a macro in the Synapse software to assign a high CPS (clicks per second) to a button on the mouse. My lad has done this. I actually really like the Razer software as there's loads of tutorials on YouTube to show how to build macros, program it etc, and that's got to be a good skill for the future.
And I thought I was cheating when I played Daley Thompson's Decathlon with my Quickshot 2.
