Just got this email, need to find somewhere else in the cloud, any recommendations?

Important changes to OneDrive

We want to inform you about some upcoming changes to OneDrive that will affect you. The amount of storage that comes with OneDrive will change from 15 GB to 5 GB. We are also discontinuing the 15 GB camera roll bonus. As a result of these changes, you will be over your OneDrive storage limit on 27/07/2016 (visit the Storage page to check your account). You can learn more by taking a look at our FAQs.

To ease this transition, claim a free one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal.* This subscription includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage.
Alternatively, you can purchase additional storage,** or choose to remove some files.

We realise these are big changes to a service you rely on. We want to apologise for any frustration they may cause you. We've made a difficult decision, but it's one that will let us sustainably operate OneDrive into the future.
Thank you for using OneDrive.
– The OneDrive Team

Today I learned I had a OneDrive account, as just got the email.

To ease this transition, claim a free one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal.* This subscription includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage

Why not use that for a year then find an alternative?

Yeah that's an option, but it's just a hook to eventually get you paying for a new service.

Of course, but you're too clever for all that. So get a free year, then jump ship.

....just making sure it doesn't auto-renew of course.

My OneDrive account has 0GB used, so didn't even get offered a TB 🙁

I should add I am a happy Dropbox user for the last million years.

I'd be amazed if anyone actually managed to upload that much. I tried but it was so painfully slow I went back to Dropbox.

Does anyone know if this will apply to all onedrive users?

I currently have 40GB of free storage; Free 15GB, Camera roll bonus 15GB and Loyalty bonus 10GB.

I'd be really annoyed if it didn't apply to all users!! 👿

I got the same email FWIW. Doesn't really affect me as I was never a huge user of it to start with, but I've got files scattered across various cloud providers. I've got:

10Gb with Box.com
2Gb with Dropbox
25Gb (currently) with OneDrive
17Gb with Google Drive

Whichever I use depends on what's most native / least faff to the device in question, I've not really noticed any huge advantages or disadvantages with any of them.

Honourable shoutout to drive.jolicloud.com which can aggregate the lot. Worth a look if you've got multiple accounts.

it does apply to all users.

I have 30GB on one drive, and 28Gb used. Bit inconvenient really, but there is Mega in NZ that give you 50GB gratis and for nothing (at the moment, obv.). I'm in the process of transferring it all over.

Just had the email, I will be moving away from them as we have just had an email from BT saying they will provide 100GB of space.
