The only goal I ever set myself was gybe a windsurfer on wave and lead an E5 in the same year

I did but what a let down. The gybe was great but it was a one off. I thought I'd be a windsurfing master to pull it off. I wasn't I was just lucky

I really could rock climb back then. But I only led one E5 and I felt it didn't count. Slate grades are soft and all about the crap 8mm bolts. Plus I had loads of beta from my belayer

I have done some brilliant trips. But they were never goals

What have you got?

I went to China, unexpectedly for work, a place I wanted to visit.

Traveling around India.

Absolutely will be doing it again as soon as life allows. The cheap way I might add, hostels etc.

I'm used to being the only 50+ year old in a hostel now.😁

The ones I listed on the other thread *are* the ones I have ticked off.

The ones I haven't are

400 mile cycle
200km mtb ride
Off road "Everest"
Lava Falls
Ski South Castle Gully on the Ben
F7b+
The black circuit at l'Elephant
Do a manual
Jump a 60cm + drop
13 munros on a bike
Skywalker at The Burren
.5
Cuillin Ridge in winter ( not IAD)
Eas a Chataidh down the high water central line.

Looking at that list I reckon I've got very little chance at any of them 🙂

Things I've ticked off....

Escape Essex. Grew up in Thurrock which, I think it is fair to say, is a shithole.

Ride across the alps (ended up working as a bike guide and have I think over 20 transalps under my belt).

Take my mum up in a hot air balloon, which had been her dream for years (fortunately did this in 2017, the same year she was diagnosed with leukemia before dying 18 months later).

Anal.

I'm not really a planner so tend not to have long term "one day" list items. But there are a handful where I gave more than a year's thought to them.

- LEJOG in 8 days with friends
- Drive across USA, New York to LA
- Mallorca 312
- Ventoux triple ascent
- Haute Route Alps and Pyrenees (road bike events)
- Marmotte
- Own an Integra Type-R (the original DC2)

I think I've ticked off five so far from my bucket list;

- Sailed to St Kilda - took I think 4 or 5 attempts to finally get condition good enough to do the last leg from Harris out to St Kilda. Was pretty good experience.

- Completed an Ironman (done 2 now and now I'm back to fat an unfit thinking of a third)

- Cycled a proper French Col - Ended up doing Col Du Telegraph and Col du Galibier in the one day .

- Learnt to Ski (Still work in progress)

- Sailed from Edinburgh to Norway on a Friends boat.

Went to trek near Everest when I was 21. Not really sure I planned it.
Did a 5 month writing trip around Oz... Again the opportunity came up, rather than intentionally planned.

I don't really do bucket lists but I always wanted to run a sub-40min 10k. I did Salford 10k and came in at 40:13 FFS.

I'm 40 years old now so not sure that'll ever get ticked off though its not totally inconceivable I suppose.

Literally the only other vague ambition I have is to cycle some of the big French alpine mountains, preferably some of the big name ones you see in the Tour. Fairly doable really.

I haven't even opened the other thread but I did do the Barra beach airport trip 3 years ago for my 60th. I'd been thinking about that for a few years.

Run a marathon (3.53 without training. Solid)
Clean every line in Whistler (only crabapple hits to go, next year..)
Sdw in a day
10k of elevation in a single ride
Lots of travelling but nothing particularly stands out
