Could do with some inspiration 🙂

Arriving there @ 12.30-1pm tomorrow - basically killing a day before being somewhere else in Cumbria NOT in the national park. Can be anywhere - at the mo I'm thinking that I WON'T be taking the bike so walking will feature. Thinking Keswick area as walked quite extensively around Ambleside/Langdale in last few years - not been to Keswick for over a year so would like a bimble around the town too!
Not done the Coledale/Grisedale Pike/Grasmoor area - done Catbells-High Spy ridge and Blencathra area there too. Have a max of about 6 hrs as need to eat prior to being at end location too!

PS As a fall-back I COULD take the bike and do Whinlatter but done that a few times (and Back o' Skiddaw/Borrowdale Bash).

Cheers

Helvellyn?
I've done a good route I could recommend. Park at the north end of Thirlmere, so easy 15 min drive from Keswick. Walk up Helvellyn coming to lower man first. Walk along the ridge and go down Birkside to wythburn woods. The walk back through the woods at this point is enchanting, it's a creepy moss covered old woods, with the occasional giant boulder or 2. A very interesting woodland walk, think like fangorn forest in Lord of the Rings, where they met treebeard, it's like that, it's great. That should come under 6 hours I reckon.

Causey Pike/Grasmoor/Hopegill Head/Grisedale Pike is a really nice round.

Obviously, you should be taking your bike, though.

Hmmm...bike AND Coledale Horseshoe - is that a bit naughty?
Should be ok on a Fri?

It's a weekday outside the school hols. You know the correct answer to that. 🙂

I would recommend you 'walk' up past Barrow to get to Sail rather than over Causey, though.

I will consult maps/sites at the earliest opportunity 😀
Any other slightly off-piste nice naughtiness worth consideration?

Buttermere -> Haystacks -> Fleetwith Pike would be fun if weather good. Descent down Fleetwith apparently somewhat suspect, might be better as a climb.

Boxelder - is that a firm, finger-wagging disapproval of biking the Coledale round? 😉
