I’ve got one day to myself in Paris coming up, about 9am-5pm. I really want to go to see Notre Dame now it’s reopened but got nothing else planned. Happy to let STW plan my itinerary for me so let’s hear your suggestions!
Are there any hire bikes and routes to enjoy their new garden streets?
There's a Blackpool Tower lookalike there that's worth a visit. Might be less crowded this time of year.
Been to Blackpool Tower in Paris before, thought it was awesome. Will take a stroll around it again, I think they’ve been doing work on the ground around it.
It’s like a year in any other place, apparently… 🤷🏼♂️
We're in Paris as we type. Notre Dame is definitely worth seeing. There are also a lot of equally stunning smaller churches around the Latin/Sorbonne area we visited on a walking tour yesterday.
Have you been before? This is our first time so taking it steady over 3 days. Louvre is excellent.
They have embraced cycling. All that pent up aggression, crazy driving and honking horns is now used by Lime bike riders who would be lethal in a crit race!
I did a bike tour earlier this year. The infrastructure has really improved and it's a great way to pack lots in to a short visit.

I'm told the night is more interesting.
We did a day in Paris earlier this year with the children and did one of the hop-on-hop-off type bus tours. Easy way to take in all the major sights and buses every 15 minutes to get back on to. Only thing I wanted to really see was Notre Dame. We were just over the bridge and traffic came to a stop. Sat there for a bit and then noticed several police cars blocking the road ahead. Looked back and there was a cordon behind us and several more police cars blocking behind. After a while they allowed the bus to reverse back round a junction in to busy Parisian traffic (rather the bus driver than me!) and then the bus had to take a diversion and completely cut out the bit that I really wanted to see.

No we're not. We're in ones office!
I've been before with my wife, this time its just me tagging a spare day onto a work trip.
I quite fancy hiring a Lime type bike for a ride around, any thoughts on how to stich together a low traffic route?
I went to Paris earlier this year as a special birthday celebration for myself. I thought it was a great city and had a great time there. Anyway, if I had to pick one thing that I thought was amazing, it would be the Musee d'orsay, which I could spend a day looking around quite easily.
I'm there for one night on the 29th with my 11year old - bloody cheerleading competition the following day...
Notre Dame is a good shout - Blackpool Tower tours sold out already. Any other ideas? Will be there early afternoon, so a mooch and food before the hotel would be great.
Somewhat depends on if you've been to Paris before, but one of our favourite walks is by the Canal St Martin from Bastille to La Villette (or vice versa). Wandering around Père Lachaise is a nice way to pass the time. Trocadero is a good vantage point to view the Blackpool Tower without getting swamped by tourists. Fondation Louis Vuitton is a stunning space for seeing art exhibitions, if what's showing takes your fancy.
Riding a bike across Paris is the scariest thing I’ve ever done on a bicycle.
Really? A group of 20 of us cycled from London to Paris a few years a ago, and we found the French drivers so much more polite that the London ones.

Try riding one across Birmingham. Paris is scary but OK once you've realised they're not out to kill you, Brimingham is not OK once you've realised they are trying to kill you. 😉
I much prefer Paris on foot with an occasional trip on a bus or metro if I walked too far.
There's something for everyone so just plough through the guides til you see something that appeals.
The Army Museum is a good few hours. It also houses Napoleon's Tomb and the Museum of the Order of Liberation.
We got here last night.
so far:-
Notre Dame - a bit meh to be honest. If you’ve been inside a big church before, it’s kinda like that, just a bit bigger. The exterior is more interesting I thought.
Sainte Chappelle - other end of Ile de la Cite. Much more interesting. The stained glass is stunning.
Les Invalides. The army cathedral is lovely - much less bedizened than the typical Catholic stuff and all the better for it. Napoleon’s Tomb/Eglise Du Dome is jaw dropping.
Eiffel Tower. Good fun. Book in advance online!
Musee d’Orsay. Lovely building. Really enjoyed the impressionist galleries and the art nouveau woodwork collection. Less interested in the statuary.
We’ve eaten at La Pie Noir and Cinq Mars, both of which have been excellent.
Not so much a what to do, more a what not to do. Don't bother with a river cruise, we took the kids on one in the summer and I was just disappointed to be seeing the top half of buildings only
One of the great things about Paris is that almost without exception there are strict controls on the heights of buildings. So the few that are higher give great views, or go to a local high point and you’ll get amazing views too. Somewhere like Belvédère de Belleville in the park there is a great spot to look out over the city.
We had an hour to kill this morning and went up to Sacre Coeur, which was lovely inside and out, and gave great views.
It was the only place this week where we've seen tourists being hassled.
