Anything good/must see to-do? Quick google says possibly not 😂 My fallback plan is just to use the city bikes to get around, see a few sights & hit up some bars! Alternatively there’s a proper bike hire shop near hotel, could jump on a gravel bike and head out of town, plenty of routes on Komoot!

off to Copenhagen for a few days after that, up for any more left-field suggestions there, been a few times before though so done all of the normal touristy stuff. Wouldn’t mind hiring a proper bike there and heading off, couldn’t immediately find anywhere close to Ørestad though which is where I’m staying. Any recommended hire shops?

There was a Travel Man 48 hours in Malmo not that long ago - might be on Channel 4 catch-up. Looked OK in summer.

And coincidentally we were looking at hire and tour options and stumbled on this place that looks to hire decent gravel and road bikes for a few hours local up to multi-day with drop off in other cities. They have a few places - don't know how near to Orestad but Copenhagen isn't a big city and has excellent public transport.

I've been just to be on the bridge but you don't see much on the train, Malmö after a wee while will have you looking forward to your train back to Copenhagen

It's quite nice by the water, in the general direction of the Turning Torso building familiar from The Bridge. And in the centre the usual yummy Scandi bakeries.

Ørestad is a bit soulless as I recall, but not far to tootle along the water to Amagerstrand (north) or Dragør (south)

There should be a Copenhagen thread on here from when I went last year. The zoo was surprisingly good if you've not been before

good shout, I actually watched that but had totally forgotten about it, will watch it back!

true, but it has plus points! It’s way cheaper for a nice hotel, there’s an excellent bakery right next door (as there is everywhere!) and there’s a metro stop that’ll take you into the centre anyway . The real bonus is there’s a massive nature reserve/country park thing with miles and miles of gravel trails I can be on only a couple of minutes from the hotel. Took a ride to Dragør last time via a coastal cycle path which was most scenic! That was on one of the boris bike things though so wouldn’t mind hiring a proper bike this time 😂

yeah, I remember it. Think I actually commented on it 😂. This is my forth trip so done most of the main touristy things already, although have not done the zoo yet so that’s a possibility 🤔

Rings a bell. And there's a bunch of nutty plane spotters around, and a weird mobile cafe ...

If you're staying at Ørestad and doing a "The Bridge" tour, I guess you have to visit the bar at the top of Bella Sky hotel, which featured at the end of one season.

I did post a load of travel advice about CPH ages ago, when I lived there. Some of it may still be relevant:-)

On the quick (road) route back from Dragør you can cycle under the runway which is pretty cool when they’re coming in to land! Will check out the links, thanks.

I am a craft beer **** so any top recommendations would be good! Cultural highlights, sights etc (am literally just here for 1 day though) would probably do one museum too.  Disgusting food museum looks entertaining but will probably wait for mrsZilog to be free to do it as well (she is here too but working!) Will probably be back next year.

That side of town has more life. The Malmö stads museet is massive with two parts. The old castle and the teknisk museet which has a cool submarine you can crawl around in. Beer and bord games is my kind of thing so I love the bastard cafe in Köpenhamn but it is super popular so hard to get a seat. The national museum has amazing bronze and Iron Age stuff and amazing Eskimo gear that looks like space suits. Malmo has loads of great second hand “loppis” shops and round möllan beer and kebab places. You have to get out of the city a bit for biking but the closest is probably torup if you don’t go urban at the bridge. Downhill mountain biking with ski lift about an hour away a vallåswn which is pretty good for the south of Sweden. Closest mountain biking is genarp. They did hire bikes there but not at the moment. Loads of gravel there and round dalby where I live. The bike facilities on both sides of Öresund are fantastic. It it cool to bike around. Get the train over the bridge then bike up Zealand. Ferry to Helsingborg and back down to Malmö. If you do hire a bike Strava heat maps is your friend and bike out to torup

Do they do drop-in tho’? Most studios you have to book well in advance, if they’re good.

Sorry - thread hijack. Anyone know how much the Copenhagen-Malmö train fare is? DSB website won’t give me a price… Thanks!

@ratherbeintobago I paid 240SEK for 2 of us (one way) so about £9 each. I use the Skånetrafiken app for that. DSB app for intercity trains in Denmark (****ing expensive!!) and DOT Tickets app for local trains/metro/bus in Copenhagen itself. (If you’re going to do loads of touristy bits might be worth looking at Copenhagen card as that gives you discounts plus free public transport also, although never bothered myself!)

Malmö is fine if you fancy a day trip (or happen to be there anyway like me!) but not as nice as Copenhagen and way less to do. But the military/science museum and castle museum (almost opposite each other on the same street) were good!

we ended up doing a day trip to Odense which was really nice (train was dear though!)
