Im due an eye test next week and will probably change my glasses. Ive been with Specsavers for a few years now, but have heard that online retailers are much much cheaper.
I need varifocals with anti-scratch and anti-reflection lenses. Reactive too.
Can anyone recommend an online store based on their experience?
Thanks
P
I'd be wary of online for varifocals, they need more marking up and measuring than just your PD. Asda do them at same price as regular lenses though, happy with mine.
Online, a friend of mine uses eyebuydirect.com, she reckons cheap enough to get a pair to go with every new outfit she buys.
You'll risk getting stigmatism from reactive lenses, discuss that with your optician when you're having the eyetest. Very important, new study just published in last month's Lancet, it's behind a paywall or I'd link to it.
Glasses Direct have been good for me, but I don't have varifocals.

Any chance you could like to the abstract please? I'm intrigued.
Intrigued +1 given that astigmatism is caused by an uneven curve of the cornea I'd be fascinated to know the mechanism for linking that with photochromic lenses and not sunglasses for instance.

Same here, I’m struggling to see a connection, personally.
Intrigued +3
I already have astigmatism and have recently acquired reactions lenses due to my eyes becoming very sensitive to light. Will I now go blind, die, develop super powers, develop astigmatism so bad I have Vision like a fun house mirror?
Oh and OP I found Opticians Direct to be great. First time I’ve used an online store and couldn’t be happier. I called them with a few questions before purchasing and they were really helpful. Glasses are great too
The OP really ought to discuss it with his professional eyecare specialist before buying online. It's definitely a thing though, stigmata of the eyeballs.
Stigmata of the eyeballs? Jesus Christ, that would be weird! I’m no biblical scholar, but I don’t recall the bit where they hammered nails through big J’s irises
That's why I suggest the OP discusses these very important things with his optometrist.
Before he buys online. From a lowest-common-denominator, discount, budget, cut price, non professional, hive of scum and villainy.
