You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The brakes keep applying for a split second at, what appears to be, any speed and every few minutes.
Driver tells us it's nothing to worry about and "two engineers are currently working on the brakes".
That's as we hurtle through countryside.
This is all totally normal, right?
Move to the rear carriage NOW.
Quick lads better distract him with light and off topic conversation....
Err.....
Have you seen the Andromeda strain?
Just think of Jenny Agutter
Anyone else enjoying the idea of 2 engineers swinging off the bottom of the train hitting the brakes with hammers?
Nope. They just walked past me to the back of the train as well 😯
at least they weren't running!
I suppose the back is the safest place to be 🙂
Where are you heading? Death may be the better option.
Kings Cross. Appears we've added 45 mins with the braking 🙂
If the brakes lock on properly, then it'll be more than 45 mins.
Have you checked for cats?

Well there was a smell of burning about half an hour ago (I kid you not) which only served to further calm fellow passengers.
Sodding trips to London. Take all bloody day and result in death*

you can live tweet the whole thrilling journey.
I suppose the back is the safest place to be
Depends, maybe the train behind is an Audi and he's just testing the brakes.
Any news?
no news......he must be dead, have the news on in the office so i will report back
Not dead but on way back on a different train due to an "unexpected change of trains" according to the driver.
Wonder why!
Which train companies trains, virgin and stagecoach now run east coast, into kings cross, and as Kings Cross is down hill into a dead enmd station best to retreat to rear coach.
Virgin.
I hate train journeys - that said, it was actually really nice to be able to scribble down things that I need to do/sketch up ideas on house, instead of just being sat thinking in car about same things, every day. Getting them written down was quite liberating!
Journey down resulted in pretty shocking drawings though 😀
Burning smell usual for a hard brake application
Sudden rapid braking you describe is usually some doors that the train thinks aren't closed properly.
Normally they'd stop at a random station in the middle of nowhere, tell you the train is broken, turf you off it and then leave you wondering what happens next
Normally they'd stop at a random station in the middle of nowhere,
They did that as well, shortly after the burning smell - apparently due to a different problem with the rear carriage.
What concerned me about that was the people on the platform of this random station started taking photos of the rear carriage.
I chose not to share this information with my fellow passengers.
I catch Eurostar most weeks and it rattles and jerks around as soon as we hit France. Seems to stay on the rails though.
