SO, taken a couple of days off for DIY in the house and am mounting some Kitchen cabinets on a partition wall (wood structure behind plasterboard) so metal rails required for hanging the cabinets off. However, Howdens (trade account only) seem to be the only local supplier that has this sort of thing. WTAH?!!
Small fry compared to others' problems I know :')
IKEA do them, not sure if they're order only or from stock.
Are these the beasties you're after? Metal plate screws to the wall and the grey block onto the wall of the cabinet.
Hafele website is usually pretty good for dimension checking and toolstation next day delivery mainly works.
Might be frowned upon by some but I just used those self-drill cavity plugs and then carried on with normal cabinet mounting brackets when I built our kitchen and everything's still on the walls.
Metal rail for hanging wall cabinets (Howdens)
Cheers for the replies- i would rather use a continuous rail was its just into plasterboard with a wooden frame behind it so I want to have a few points screwed into the wooden frame at least, with the remaining ones mounted using the plasterboard plugs....
I think this is the long version of the bracket that the toolstation ones will hook onto (just over 2m long).
Locks online are showing miles of stock although I didn't price postage. Others places also showed results when I googled the Hafele part no. Might make the half lengths more practical. I often find with random kitchen cabinet bits find them on Hafele or Blum website then google part no. I feel your pain trying to sort out these fitting details, hence my tactics above.
Hope this a helps 🙂
Cut yourself some strips of ply the thickness of the recess at the rear of the cabinet, make them say 100mm high, fix to wall with a screw into the nearest stud backed up with Nae Nails. These strips need to be of a length to fit between the normal wall brackets that you can fix on to the wall with the plasterboard fixings. The ply needs to be at a height the the top of the unit sits on it, fix through the back panel into the ply with a fat gauge screw and a screw cup.
Have used this arrangement dozens of times. I would say just relying on screw in plasterboard fixings (as someone above suggested) is really dangerous. IKEA rail system is only designed for their cabinets and flexes too much for my liking.
Can't you just get an account at Howdens. I'm sure I've heard of people saying they've got one by just telling Howdens they're flipping a house.
Just chuck together a french cleat.
Think we’ve a couple of unused IKEA ones going back for a refund. Still packaged. If you’re anywhere near Hebden Bridge, you could buy them instead if it suits?
