You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
is a bit dead :S
looks like womens mtb is all gone as well (had large amounts of availability listed)
Ho hum
Yeah - I started refreshing at 5:50 so they either didn't ever have any (like the atheltic ones) or they haven't released them yet.
What. A. Crock. Of. Sh1te.
Yeah, logged in at 6am, searched, all gone...
I don't anyone who has managed to get tickets from the first ballot. I know whatever system they put there will be winners and losers but this system is dreadful. Should have ordered the tickets from a German website like the rest of the world.
i was the same - logged on to get some and there were none as far as I can see. We will probably find they will come out in 3 or 4 hours and everyone else will get them!
well we punted 2 orders in, for 4 tickets each in
athletics x3
dressage
football
table tennis
whats the betting we get them all 🙂 The first set of tickets went through very quickly - fully paid up by 06:05. The second set (despite knowing all the codes) took about 20, the site felt like it was on it's knees
womens beach volleyball - sold out 🙁
Not qualified to get some now as I got a pair (marathon swim 😕 ) in the first. There was a link up a few days ago showing what would be available and it was pretty minimal unless Olympic football floats your boat.
As an aside, does anyone know what proportion of all the tickets was available through the ballot? Some going to relatives of sports people, some to Olympic movement, some to corporate sponsors and some reserved for purchase by foreigners so that visitors to the country could come over.
I don't think they went to relatives of competitors - largely olympic assoications and corporate sponsors.
Bunch of crap.
Not mtb still grrrrr. The pdf lists good availability - I can't beleive they sold them all in the microsecond inbetween my refreshs.
yeah i think something jippy happened with that - its still showing the athletics tickets as 'available' which I very much doubt they are..
So do I sit here and hit refresh / accept that there probably aren't any avilable and they didn't bother to update the PDF as it's not a popular sport / go back to bed find out they were released the second I left the computer and get f all?
Has there been a mistake with the Ladies MTB 2nd chance tickets?
Very strange?
Went for some Athletics tickets instead, not much chance of getting them I guess!
Going to be well pissed if there has been an error with the ladies MTB tickets!
I think there has - I never saw them either!
all the other 2nd chance tickets seemed to be available at 6am?
Sounds like something went wrong?
same with Canoe Sprint - nothing except for the £95 available.
6 years ago while working for previous employers I worked flat out for two months to get the olympics to London, including planning and running a emergency services tabletop exercise that was key to the bid. Now I cant even get tickets to see the events I wanted to. Due to my current role, although I can go watch events, I cant go on holiday as I will be on call if there is an incident.
Not a good system!
I'm passing the time by sending shtty emails to Locog.
Truely they are a pinnacle of incompetence in a sea of mediocrity.
i tried to get womens MTB too but no luck
was successful for football though, but i dont even like football 😕

LOL
I have an hour to kill now before work, so might just fire a few off too 😉

I think this sums up the way the system has worked out, people buying tickets for sports they are not primarily interested in. I wonder how many tickets will be offloaded later on next year when they can be sold on?
no i wont sell them, if i get them.
my sons like football, so i will take them. its just me that doesnt like it.
Truly awful! No chance of getting anything that we're remotely interested in watching. I heard on the radio this week that of 2.3m tickets left, 1.7m were football! Only wanted to take the kids to the Olympic village to see a once in a lifetime event. Bloody eejits.
There will be a lot of us growling at the telly come next year when the camera pans the crowd and shows groups of unused seats, probably earmarked for sponsors etc.
Thinking about it, if there was a charge for all tickets bought but not used it would encourage people to make sure they actually used them and also discourage touts/ black market. Would you risk buying to sell them on if you thought you might be charged if the ticket was not actually used.
Funny that all week £45 tickets for womens MTB had good availability, today at 5:50 'None available' What's that about?
What a complete shambles, the only availability seems to be for Football, Wresting or Volleyball. And £65 for 1.5hrs of Volleyball? You've got to be kidding me. We paid £45 for a whole day on Centre Court at Wimbledon this week! Shambles.
what do we expect with a tory in charge?
i blame [s]lord coe[/s] thatcher.
It really is a great big huge bag of s+++filled incompetence
I can't play today as I managed to get some tickets first time around.
Everybody is complaining that the system for getting tickets is c**p. Yet no one has come up with a 'better' system. Where there have been suggestions they are so that I can get some ticket with a number of reasons like
- I worked on the bid
- I live in London
- I am young and do the sport
- I will be competing and want my entire family and friends to come
- etc
However we do it, the demand for tickets is so huge that any system will leave a lot of people disappointed.
We can't blame LOCOG for wanting to fill the stadiums or getting sponsors on board to pay part of the bill. If the sponsors fail to put bums on seats I (like many millions) will be very annoyed - but that it is not the responsibility of LOCOG.
As to the other tickets handed out (e.g. to FIFA, IOC, the other Olympic countries) that is all part of the contract between LOCOG and the IOC. Beat up the IOC for that.
(Takes deep breath and calms down)
Sadmadalan - some suggestions....
- Limit the number of tickets you can buy in total in the first round
- State preferences for the sports you want to watch
- Only allow people to apply for a limited number of sports - say 4
The fairness issue in my view is less around some people missing out (including me) and more about some people missing out whilst others have hit the jackpot (i.e. loads of tickets to loads of events). My money is as good as everyone elses...
Apparently there have been 22 million applications for 8 million tickets.
It's not rocket surgery to work out that 22 into 8 doesn't go.
So why are some people so disgusted / shocked / surprised they've not got what they applied for, if any?
Have I missed something here?
(however, re. the 'fairness' thing, I do agree that some people seem to have been given 'too many' tickets ... perhaps the system should have cross-checked a bit more to broaden the succesful applications)
Everybody is complaining that the system for getting tickets is c**p. Yet no one has come up with a 'better' system.
Most of us on here are British, therefore we are highly trained at moaning and criticising.
And being British, it is always someone elses responsibility to do something about it.
Womens Mountain bike tickets seem to be available now......
Womens Mountain bike tickets seem to be available now......
Were?
I can't see any, still 'Currently unavailable'
I checked around 1pm and they were there (have been checking on and off all morning). I applied and now have to wait up to 48 hours to see, just checked again and they have gone now.
out of interest, how did folks get on with this?
we got (between 2 of us) 4 tickets to each of
2 athletics sessions
1 tabletennis session
1 dressage session
1 footy match
so 20 tickets all in. The only one I didnt get was some athletics I booked at about 6:20, which I only went for because the mtb was missing..
Applied for 3 X Athletics, got 1 lot. Happy that I now get a visit to the main stage.
