I have an old pair of jeans that are ripe for cutting into a pair of Denim Shorts. Problem is at 49 am I a bit to old for this sort of thing.... 😆 😆

As said depends on how short you want them ..too short and they might well look a bit naff ..

I* always do it with old jeans and I'm 41.
Cut them off at just below the knee. So when finished they sit on or just above the knee.
Then either hem them properly on the inside or turn them up outside an iron them down (sometimes use a bit of wonder web) depending what the fashion du jour is.
Great for general wearing around the house or garden.
Another tip is, if you tend to wear the crotch out, you can use the bit you cut off to make a seat patch.
*my wife is a dab hand with a sewing machine so any actual sewing is usually done by her.
