It seems like there are quite a few music afficionados on here who are into their dance music, or have been into going out and partying in their youth.

Would anyone be up for a ride based around a love of good music and bikes?

Anything from D+B, reggae, house, techno, hip hop, or what ever else you can think of?

No riding to warehouse and taking un-named substances, but perhaps a visit to a pub, playing some good tunes after 🙂

will it involve looking at the yoofs of today on their special k and gas and tut tutting?

Special K was rife back in the day as well 😉

is it a boom box strapped to the lead rider or what?

It is funny you should say that Jim. I went to a rave earlier this year (first one in years!) and every 200 yards there was a guy filling up balloons with gas and monged out yoofs on K crammed into cars. I drank beer and did lots of tutting 🙂

White gloves and boom box are optional, but a prior history of going to raves and house parties is essential 😀

ahhhhhh Blackburn, happy days. Hanging around at Sett End waiting for the convoy to start, a mad dash in the motor to the middle of nowhere trying to avoiding the coppers and the shouts of "get yer fivers ready" whilst queuing to get in.

Take me back! 8)

Can we take in Quad Park on the way, the all nighter? Or if anyone feeling fresh and young we could take in Quad Park then Quad II. Come on, you know you want to.

Fantastic nights/days/weekends but I dont know how long that lifestyle could be kept up with no long lasting damaging side effects to mind body and soul. Shame it will never happen again, glad to be at the right place at the right time.

I used to love getting off my nut and riding my bike.

If it involves doing that then I am game, unless we are going to try straightening ourselves up with wobblies later in the session then I'm out - buggered if I;m going to spend 24hours sleeping under a rug in a squat again.

Hello my names Tom and I used to be a cheesey quaver

This was one of my haunts in the early days.

And this video is classic entertainment! And I was there on some awful concoction of lsd, speed, ecstacy, weed and beer...

Good memories but I bet I looked like a right gurning ****

This is the kind of thing I'm thinking of. Brighton perhaps? A ride around the singletrack in stamner and wild park, and then back to chillout and listen to some good tunes and talk bollox about going raving and to house parties 😀

Brighton a bit far for me probably, and seeing as my vinyl collection only starts from about 1996 seems I'm a bit young for most of you!

I feel left out... 🙁

Ha ha been in Blackburn today, looking at furniture outlets (or whats left of them). OH commented that it is sad how many businesses are now gone leaving massive buildings empty.

I said that what you see as a sad indictment of our times, I see the opportunity for a Rave! Shame the 'kids' dont see it that way 😥

Sterns was the place to be. Walking down to the Underground with just that 1 green laser and carl cox baning out some fine techno - those were the days.... 8)

Ratpack - saw them quite a few times at Various Reading raves. think they were from there?

Sterns!....now theres a blast from the past.

Carl Cox was local to that area wasnt he?....always wondered how they got him to do so many smaller gigs down that way.

As much as the big events of the 90s were fun, there was a lot to be said for the small, dark, underground clubs like Sterns....in my area it was the Rhythm Station in Aldershot....those up north had Shelleys....

**** me, i went to that Universe do in '93....i was 16 years old! Hahaha...what a tune to open with 'Fall Down On Me'....

Lenny Dee?...yep, didnt get the exposure he deserved...i got into techno a bit later than that....the good DJs for me were Scorpio, HMS, Producer, Bass Generator, Loft Groover etc....loved a bit of Gabba in the mid to late 90s....also liked Mark-EG, he is proper nuts.

Absolutely.

The best way to show the authorities that they are out of touch is to party, spread the love, start a revolution... peacefully. 😀

I'm not old enough to remember the summer of love or the beginnings of acid house, but I still did plenty of partying in the 90's 🙂

Deviant, all those were Underground regulars at Sterns.
Colin Dale always good to..

Do you remember "The Music maker". he played at alot of the Sterns?interdance events.

proper minimal stuff..

Coxy is from Horsham I think so pretty local.

Yes! in his reflective/mirror suit at all the Helter Skelter events....very good too.

While we're talking techno, always loved this....an acquired taste for some though:

Went to a Fantazia do in Ibiza in the late 90s, 98 i think. Saw half the cast of Eastenders and Denise Van Outen absolutely off their collective t**s... surreal night! 😆

Brilliant idea but I'd be concerned that it'd just turn into a "I was there and know more niche choons than you" type thing which is a million miles from what made it so brilliant at the time (assuming we're talking early to mid 90s) - people just having a brilliant time, no agro, no attitude, no ego.

Looks like there was an "old school" legends Fantazia last weekend in Bristol. I would be intrigued to see what these are like, what sort of people go to them??

Ah,Shelleys - good times, then when it shut BYO Doncaster Warehouse.

In spite of my body not being up to it now, couldn't do a rave these days and get 'that feeling', the drugs just aren't the same.

Re: Ratpack - I was standing in the corner, I was searchin for me Rizla, to the tune of Toms Diner by Suzanne Vega - last saw them towards the end of the rave era at some club back in Stoke.

Though I never met any personally Yunki, it's rumoured they did exist. In fact, i believe they're now running the country. 🙁

Here's my mate James a few years back at D Percussion. Mental!!!

Nice idea, so do we all meet up at a service station somewhere around the M25 and then drive in a convoy to the ride location?

So if we all arrange to meet on the upper bridge of the A27 between Stanmer & Coldean at 11pm ride around the singletrack for 5 hours trying to avoid the rozzers & following various clues before finally arriving at a field where there are 2 dozen riot vans turning people away while a couple of guys try to dismantle their sound system before legging it in the boot of a mates car to avoid being arrested before heading back to a mates house for a smoke & some chill out toons that sound just like i remember it. 😯

Or we could head over to Climping beach and relive the Fear Teachers gig 😛
