Recently acquired an old Raspberry Pi Model A. I've loaded up the latest RPI OS onto an SD and its all working fine. The problem is that is no ethernet port or wifi and only one USB (all in one keyboard and mouse plugged in).

So my question - As an absolute novice, how do I load and install software onto the Raspberry Pi? Can't seem to do it through windows.

Thanks in advance

Use a USB hub to add another USB port then you can use a USB stick (and your keyboard)

Turn SSH on -

(Simple as writing "SSH" into a text file on the SD card if I recall).

You then plug the Pi into the router and access remotely via Putty or similar.

I do this to set up my weather station on a Pi B.

For the price of a USB network adapter and a hub, unless you already have such things lying around, I'd throw it in the bin and get a newer one.

Yeah, I wouldn't be spending money on a Model A.

@nixie Thanks, do you know which model it is? Happy to cover postage.

I have got a USB cable with four connectors on it, presumably I can use this with the gpio pins?

I've got a model B which at least does have better connectivity but it's still far too slow to be worth the faff of doing anything with it.

I replaced it with the most basic pi4; it's not that expensive but vastly easier to use.

Vague question is vague. I've got a cardboard box, presumably I can use what's inside it with my kettle?

Define "connector." Define "use." What have you actually got and what are you hoping to do with it?

Did you have anything in mind you wanted to do with it?
I ask because I dabbled a bit with Pis, but to be honest most people hugely under utilise their capabilities. I've recently been playing about with Arduinos (Specifically NodeMCU) and the user community is just as big, and they do a lot of stuff just as well, and are cheaper and simpler.
