Another thread started me thinking...

I gave up riding motorbikes 20 years ago. If I was to buy one now, would any NCD apply? Just wondering if it lapses after a set time.

There would also be a problem in establishing who I was last insured by....

Depends on insurer but I doubt any would take 20yr old NCD.

I don't see why they should either, just curious really. What if it was 5 years, 10 years etc?

I think most will accept 2 years, but will want an explanation for the gap, and possibly confirmation from any current insurers there have been no subsequent claims in the interim period.

I has the same problem after a break from motorbike and non one accept my 7 year old NCD. They will only accept up to 2 years old so you lost them I'm afraid and need to start again.

Car NCD don't count either although they will want to know if you've had an accident in car.
