So we moved into a new (for us) house a couple of days ago and have just found the entrance to the basement we didn't know was there. Bearing in mind it's after midnight, do we open it just now or leave it until the morning? What do think we'll find in it?

I've watched enough films to know that the minimum prerequisite armourment before entering a newly discovered basement is an axe, a flamethrower, a shotgun and a revolver with a silver Bullet.
Armed thus you should be okay otherwise stay the **** out...

Mines 4.5feet tall . Was very handy for plumbing
My parents one starts at 6ft and tapers to a ft.
Not really useful for storing owt
We found a hatch in the kitchen of a tented flat... Led to a complete other floor. 7 rooms, water/electric etc. It was a part converted basement flat that hadn't been finished so had been sealed off! We also rented a house that had a sauna in the basement...letting agent had no idea as she was scared of spiders so wouldn't go into the basement!
