OK, I'll admit it. I've managed to reach the milestone of 50 trips around the sun.

Any of you fellow 50ers found a better deal on car insurance, maybe from an over 50's specialised provider?

Never found that the so called specialists gave much away. Even Saga seldom rates on the comparison sites. I just shop around. At present am with LV.

Saga here, or would be if I could get through on the phone. They are 2nd best value on the Meerkats! LV were the best a couple of weeks ago but seem to have dropped off the list completely!

You just have to shop around regardless. Car insurance is a fickle industry.

My mate (who is male) at one time was insured with Sheila's Wheels lol. His documents arrived in a pink envelope hahaha

I found many of the specialist providers to be among the most expensive. Currently with Aviva.

Sun Life have been very generous to us with M&S gift vouchers. We have had 3 lots of them so far, Mrs S stops the monthly payment of £5 on the third month every time. They keep writing and offering more vouchers.

Sometimes pays to go direct. I'm not past 50 yet but aviva came out cheaper than all the compare sites, did include 20% extra off for having another product with them

I've not done any searching for quotes yet, but heard that Aviva seem to be cheapest a lot of the time by all accounts.

I got put off them though when looking to put my daughter on our insurance as an additional driver, she had to be the main driver (as she was the highest risk), even though she wouldn't be the main driver. When I said that technically I would be committing fraud for having lied on the application... I line went very quiet for a long time, the person on the other end had no response and we parted our ways.
