Jethro has loads of Great Alfa stuff on his channel. I recommended him for YouTube viewing about cars on a thread here a while ago. 3 or 4 old Alfa's getting full restore.... Young guy, huge garage, all the tools and a posh accent...hmmm.... Lucky man. However he doesn't seem obnoxious and I feel the channel is good sharing with those of us they can't afford the time/space/money.... I like that he is both knowledgeable and thorough.

The strip of the barn find engine is nice too, if you prefer bolting/unbolting to constant sheet metal Binky bracketry.

Intrigued as to why the valves had been hitting the pistons on a pretty standard build I checked some of the earlier vids about that engine. The whole thing is a bodge. One of the mains span so they just skimmed the caps and then rebored the crank main bearing housings. Either they should have welded up the bearing seat before boring or sourced some over-sized shells and rebored to that size.

As it is the crank sits too high in the block which as they've done nothing about the seal seats means it'll wear out its crank seals in no time. Then there's the clutch housing which is out, and the pistons run too high hence the valves touching the pistons.

He explains in the previous video how this has been resolved, the seal seats, the thrust bearings and the dowels for the bell housing have all been lined up to the new crank position. The pistons have been modified to prevent valve contact. It was originally a dodgy bodge, now it is a proper bodge
