Money no object?

What could be deemed as a cool drivers car and what makes you look like a tasteless bellend?

You've essentially nicked Top Gear's cool wall idea.

P.S : Ford Fiesta.

Bristol, not Aston.
Citroen, not Peugeot.
Yellow or blue Ferraris.
Small Fiats and Alfas.
Nothing German post 1990, nothing American post 1969.
All Hondas.
Most Jags.
Rear engined Skodas.
Volvos.
Saabs.
Tatras.
Morgans.
Toyota Landcruisers.

I think that covers it.
🙂

All you really need is a 2CV and an DS Safari.
If we were all issued with these as a matter of course, the world would be a much better place.
With lots more garages.

I agree with Rusty, Cool = Saab's and fast Volvo's.
Money no object, would have a few Morgans, being a malverner, I am slightly biased but they are cool as.....
Always on the look out for a Jenson Interceptor, would definitely have one in my garage.
Finishing off the collection would be a 911.
Uncool = Dacia, (british) Chevrolet, new MG, well you get the picture...

These, post Brexit, will become the fashion item during 2018-2035. A Chinese tractor manufacturer has been linked to a new venture already, plans and investment rumoured to be just short of ¥400,000 for placing a 12mile factory in the heart of the Chilterns or Somerset Levels (or even South Downs ANOB) because post Brexit no ANOBs will exist and the likes of BMW and Nissan will have packed their toolkits away and gone back to civilisation.

Bristol, not Aston. "Where are my ****ing red trousers"
Citroen, not Peugeot. Excluding the BX19...
Yellow or blue Ferraris. Yellow, maybe, Ferrari can't paint a car blue if their lives depended on it, worse than their welding
Small Fiats and Alfas. By Fiat and Alfa, you mean Lancia
Nothing German post 1990, nothing American post 1969: misses the greatest decade of Americana
All Hondas: Sensible cars for sensible people
Most Jags: Golf club membership
Rear engined Skodas: Stand in Teacher
Volvos. Stand in parent
Saabs. Architects
Tatras. Marxists
Morgans. Pipe, Slippers, Adenoids
Toyota Landcruisers. Australians (shudders)

E Type Jag. Never have so many people smiled at me as I drove along. 8)

Uncool - big TVR. Especially burbling round mini roundabout in Watford. 😳

It allo depends if you are slightly overweight and have a combover....
No matter what the car, how cool it is and how cool a lot of people would look driving it. If you reek of mid life crisis then your in trouble.

Almost anything, with the top down, in winter.

Definitely cool, occasionally chilly.

Battered land rovers are cool. Blinged up polished ones that have all the bolt-ons -uncool

Old euro stuff like 1980s Saabs Beemers Volvos and Audis are pretty cool. Modern stuff not so

Quirky stuff like a 2CV or Allegro can only be cool if you in on the joke.

No modern supercar is cool if they are driven by a Premiership footballer anywhere in the world

the 70's obvs.... 😆

If you're going to have an American car it has to be "Go large or go home": massive engines with no horsepower, ridiculous single figure mpg, 3 speed autos, squealing "tires" , also...velour bench seats

Pre 70's american cars are far far too sensible by comparison...

TVR's are ace. Love them.

I've never really got Ferrari's. On one hand I respect them because they're quick and more often than not sound brilliant, but there's something really cockish about them. I sometimes pass an older chap in his 360; chest wig and he's always wearing his Ferrari cap. But I love other silly cars like Lambo's.

Old air cooled 911's are super cool too.

Post 1990 BM's aren't all bad either. I'd love an M3 CSL; that induction noise is awesome.

I like my car, it's a good car - but I don't think it's 'cool'. I find it comfortable, capable and easy to drive - but for cool, I think you need to go back c40-50 years. Lovely AC's, early 1970's 911's, Mini Coopers, DB4's - that kind of thing.

What about A***'s?

A 1970's 100, driven by a geography teacher is obviously cool - very forward thinking, probably likes a bit of Krautrock, possible overuse of sunglasses.

The last decent one is obviously the original Quattro.

Could have been the TT if they'd stuck to their guns, refused to modify it and sent a few more sales people hedgeward.

i have a hankering for a dull as ditch looking volvo 240 or 740 that has had the running gear upgraded and a V8 dropped in the engine bay.

Or possibly a w124 era merc

It's red, the bumper's hanging off and the number plate makes everyone think you've got herpes.
Owned by someone who watches royal weddings but doesn't tell anyone.

With you on the Volvos and Mercs though.

I'm hideously uncool when it comes to cars, I can't be arsed with them most of the time, but I do have a weakness for Alfa Romeos. I should probably know better, but if you sit in an Alfa 159 then you'll understand what I mean.

If I suddenly found myself sitting on a fortune and I was forced to spend some of it on cars, then there are three I'd buy.

A fully restored and slightly breathed upon 1990 Golf GTI 16v
A Ford Galaxy (I need something to carry my bikes)
An Alfa Giulia Cloverleaf

The coolest car I have seen was a Testarossa with a large parking scrape on the front quarter gradually fading into the air intakes. In Nice circa 2005.

I agree about Bristols.

I can't think of a Lotus that wouldn't be cool either.

I don't really think any current supercar can be cool - you will look like a massive nob end driving one anywhere with a bigger population of people than sheep.

Motorbikes are cool, too (and I'm neutral, I don't have a bike license).

Not a car person, and the last car I owned (an Alfa 159) was over 6 years ago but I am lusting after a Ferrari GTC4Lusso, my kind of practical runabout once I get that lottery win.

That's why its cool. Except for the herpes bit. That just sounds painful.

It's not, it's a shopping car.

I saw one of these the other day. Not seen one before, and had to look twice to see that it was a Peugeot. Thought it looked quite fun. It might of course be shit, but it does look quite good.

Nah. Trying waaay too hard to style something and ending up with a TT clone is not and will never be cool...
