Just had an extension done and have a glulam beam, which I believe is spruce, as part of the roof structure. Is there anything to be aware of when staining/oiling these? Will the resin react or will it draw out (visually) the laminations? Can't really test anywhere apart from the top.
We've also had some oak doors put in. They're cottage style so vertical floorboard with the bars across. We quite like the natural colour. I don't know about that particular Osmo product but they are normally very good. Just be careful to ensure you have chosen an untinted one – their wording isn't very helpful with 'Clear', 'Extra Clear and 'Natural' etc – they all suggest that they won't alter the colour of the wood but do to a degree.
I went to see my local specialist outlet and discussed what I wanted with him and got the perfect finish I was after.
He also saved me £30 because I would have bought the bigger tin but based on my description of what was needed he said I'd only need the smaller tin and would have about 1/3rd left. And yes – I ended up with 1/3rd left.

Another vote for osmo. I was given some by a friend to oil some oak shelves I built. It is really easy to use and gives a professional glass like finish.
It was so good I went around the house sanding and oiling anything oak in sight including tables and window cills.
Interesting re the stain. Might have to google to see if they're any specialists round us. That said my google fu is failing, what did you search for or who would be a specialist?
I was just fortunate that a local stockist has a great knowledge of the product and paint in general. I would have thought the Osmo site will have a list of their stockists?
