I'm having to clear and get ready my dads house for sale. Its got an oil fed stove in the living room. It appears to have a heat exchanger. Trouble is the rads are bearly getting luke warm. I've tested the pump and that's fine so I guess its the heat exchanger that's the problem. Trouble is its an old Efel Harmony stove that no one in my part of the UK (Kent) can service let alone replace bits. Are we flogging a dead horse trying to get it repaired or should with suck it up and splash out on getting someone in to fit an oil boiler?
I am in the processing of selling my parents house, which is a doer upper, because of this I’m not fixing or doing up anything - that’s reflected in the price. If the stove is that old and that rare the fact that it needs replacement may be factored into any price offered. Unless the EA says it’s going to be a massive impediment to sale I wouldn’t bother.
Bleed the rads , see if that helps
Eliminate easy stuff
Thanks kormoran, we have done that. Have checked the motorised valves too.
I wouldn't spend money on it if you are selling!
Also, it's not necessarily the heat exchanger. The central heating might just need a flush.
Thanks spooky, worth a flush after 40 years without one most likely!
Sell as is, you won't get the money back.
