Having for the last few years followed Christmas tree fashion with just one themed colour..we decided this year to decorate the tree the way they used to be when I was a boy .
Shades required .. 😀

I'm with you op, when did some**** decide Xmas deccys had to be tasteful!
If you can't be tacky at Xmas it's a pretty poor lookout in my view

I'm completely with you, hodgynd. My tree is a similar configuration of colour.

The world may be afflicted by Daesh, and plastics, and climate change, but what really gets on my wick is the single-colour obsession in Britain. Especially when it's for 'fog white' or 'emergency services blue'.

Make your Yuletide gay, I say!

Our tree is stuck in a pot, out in garden for 11 months of the year.

The straggly, lopsided and odd coloured thing then gets hauled into the warmth whereupon all sorts of child made decorations adorn it, much to the (now teenage) children's horror.

Mrs_oab and I love it.

From behind that tree I'd say.

Probably assuming the war hasn't ended yet.

Love it, ours is pretty similar except for some gold and red tinsel too.

In previous years we have had a all white tree and lights with pink and blue baubels.

Much preferring the throwback look.

My missus won’t let me have coloured lights! It makes me sad.

Your tree is awesome!

After doing white lights and 'tasteful' decorations the last 3 years, my tree now looks something like yours. One set of lights already died though.

Chez Wombat we play a Christmas tree decorating game whereby Mrs Wombat decorates the tree and at some point before the big day Ms Wombat (18) and I select an additional decoration to add to the tree and we see how long before it remains in place before it is noticed and removed by The Authorities (Mrs W).

Last year our 29p sparkly polystyrene parcel from Yorkshire Trading made it all the way through until 12th night. 🙂

Sadly this year's contribution, a plastic pelican, lasted less than 24 hours before it was banished to the rear of the tree 🙁

We used to have the free decorations from Esso on ours when I was growing up... always used to love the randomness of it... excellent tree OP!

About the mids 1800s then in the 1970s and 80s it all went wrong.

Errr . . . didn't you recently tell us you lived in the middle of a forest, hodgynd?
If so, that's a fairly pathetic little tree 😉 . . . or is it artificial?
