On the hill, aim for Les Marmottes at Lindarets (last restaurant on the right as you aim for the rocks at the end of the plateau), on Sunday for Lunch.

Rotisserie Ham on the bone, with dauphinoise potatoes. Unmissable! The guys there will look after you well.

In town, La Grange is good quality, excellent menu. €50/head inc wine. http://www.lagrangemorzine.com/

Le Matafan, traditional Savoyard cooking. I havent been for a while.

La Rotonde for Pizzas

"Burger Place" near the Pleney lift is v good value snack lunches (sandwiches with frites and local beer etc)

La Chamade for posh grub and an orzum cheese cellar. http://www.lachamade.com/en/

For DIY picnics on the mountain get your sandwiches from Pomponette (bottom of Rue de Bourg) or La Bonbonniere Route de la Plagne (their bread is the best in town) do a take away picnic deal with a drink. Excellent food for a fraction of what it will cost you on the mountains.

Just got back from Morz earlier this week with some Reblochon. Am making tartiflette right now 🙂

@ Stoner

I had similar plans last time I went to the alps. Bought some nice Reblochon the day before leaving the Alps. Then the Airline lost our luggage on the way home. A week and a half later when our bags turned up after sitting in various warm airport lockers. The bag was you might say RIPE.

Isn't it uncanny how often a thread on here pops up discussing the very thing you've been thinking! We're off to Avoriaz soon and the piste maps as ever are impossible to read I.e. What is reachable from where.

Heard good things about the lindarets valley and Keen to eat lunch down there. Any places that do good value food down there? Or anywhere else skiable from Avoriaz with easy chairlift (think tartiflette induced immobility) escape?

I can’t think of a worse place to eat in Morzine. It’s basically like a Wetherspoons but worse

Bec Jaune is by far my favourite, although it is veggie.

l’etale is excellent

Tyrolein for pizza and raclette

Where ever you end up just make sure you go for any food 'savoyarde'. Basically with roblochen and lardons. Works really well for pizza and burgers.

best chilli i’ve ever had was in Bec Jaune, it definitely wasn’t veggie that day

Regardless of that, definitely my favourite Morzine pub

Completely agree re. Les Marmottes

The ham dish is amazing.

Staff are great

If you pass through Les Gets - K2 for a burger (no really, they’re fantastic) and L’Alpine was doing a very nice set menu 4 course €14 in the summer - worth a look (the salmon ravioli in lemon cream sauce was superb).
