Can't see the link, but I'll hazard a guess that it's mapping.

There's been loads of survey work going on, they were over Northumberland the other day. Perfect weather and very little other air traffic to worry about!

Fair few military ones around too, usually a KC3 tanker heading out over the North Sea, the A400M and the C17 cargo planes have both been around a bit.

Yeah, my mates were posting plots up last week all across Wales. Either OS or maybe Google taking advantage of clear skies with no pollution to get super quality aerial imagery.

I’m 99% sure it is Ordnance Survey’s king air.

These flights happen a lot, just that they are easier to spot now as they usually blend in. The recent good weather and empty sky means they are getting a lot done without us moving them out the way for other traffic.

THe RVL on the screenshot tells us it's from Reconnaisance Ventures, who have dedicated planes for aerial surveys.

So it might be OS work, or new images on Google maps, or with the right kit, geological surveys using magnetic readings.

Perhaps its a pilot taking his aircraft out for daily exercise (within 10 miles of home)

Carpet bombing Portsmouth.

Best thing for it, really.
