I messaged a seller about an item asking for more information/ photos.

The seller has responded and included what appears to be a photo.

Hower when I click the thumbnail image, it takes me to, what at least appears to be, the ebay sign in page asking for log on details.

Using the ebay app and seem to be logged in ok and appears I can reply without signing in again.

So, am I overly cautious and this is a feature of Ebay when opening images in messages or am I right in having mega alarm bells ringing and

I added a photo in a response the other day and it was uploaded via the app. So sounds legit that you may need to logon to see it.

Had this twice within the last week:
1/ After sending an email with an attached photo for the seller, then clicking the thumbnail on the copy of my own email in Thunderbird.
2/ Same thing after receiving an email with attached measurement photos from a different seller.

Seems ok to me. HTH

Sounds like it might be a fake eBay page set up to get your log in details. I wouldn’t be logging in via that page.
